New UK member story

After browsing this site for the last few years, I’ve finally decided to post my experience.
The side effects I experienced from taking Propecia were impotence, loss of libido, dulled orgasms (no pleasurable sensations) & loss of pleasurable sensitivity in the genitals. I stopped Propecia after 12 weeks by cold turkey upon realising the side effects. All these side effects have continued to the present day.
My doctor keeps dismissing these symptoms as “all in your head” and psychological, as all my blood tests have been normal.
I have been prescribed Levitra a few times, although it works well - ultimately its not a permanent solution and doesn’t address the issue of the other side effects.
I have now been referred for psychosexual therapy.
Has anyone else tried psychosexual therapy? I’d appreciate any feedback as to whether anyone found it helpful.
I am also considering seeing a hypnotherapist.

Hello,

Do you have a link to your blood tests?

What is your body temp? Is it normal?

Siliva cortisol normal?

Sorry you took this shit.

Hi seneca_9,

Have you been seeing a GP on the NHS, or a private doc?

Do you have any plans to pursue more testing privately?

I’ve been referred to an endocrinologist on the NHS (appointment coming up in a few weeks), but I don’t have much hope based on what I’ve heard from GPs so far - so I’m looking at private options for testing/treatments.

Psychosexual therapy might help - anything is worth a try - but I think most people here would agree that your symptoms have a physical cause.

Hi,
I don’t have a link to my blood tests, my doctor simply says that they are within the normal range.

In your country, your medical system may give the patient the right to have access to their files. Request copies of your bloodwork.

Mew’s right. You do have the right. You can request to see or have a copy of all your medical records from your practice manager (in writing). You do not need to give a reason but you may be charged a fee, although I can’t see that being the case just for test results, rather than your whole file.

You do have a right to see your test results and it shouldn’t be difficult to obtain.

In my case I just asked the receptionist at the GP clinic, she printed out the results for me, so I didn’t even need to ask the doctor.

As Scotsman said you can also request your entire medical record - I did this a few year ago before PFS as I was concerned they had lost it when I was moving around - it cost £10 and I got about 8 pages of printouts including everything written down or recorded by any doctor I had seen since I was a kid, well worth getting just to have for future reference in my opinion.
