We need to wake up here, it is clear that our finasteride use (either upon first dosage or cesation) has altered or destroyed the protective effects of progesterone in the CNS. This is the smoking gun IMO
Did you have a chance to use progesterone again?
I have not, primarily because I do feel over time the body SLOWLY adjusts, not upward, but I have already had improvements over the last 8 months.
This study just came out on Dec 29, 2012.
This is something VERY exciting to read.
The content of allopregnanolone in the slices was significantly increased by treatment with progesterone, and this increment was greatly suppressed with a pretreatment of finasteride.
Finasteride messes up directly with the progesterone in the body\brain… the proof is right there.
People, In these studies regarding progesterone and neurosteroids…this and others I have recently posted, they specifically use Finasteride to DESTROY cells pretreated with progesterone. The science is right here! What I am saying is that these researchers KNOW what finasteride does to progesterone…and our symptoms are of low progesterone or estrogen dominance. How much more obvious can this be?
Finatruth, what you have posted has been discussed many times over on this site and unfortunately, the answer is not “obvious” nor will it be solved from googling and reading studies.
Why? Because the drug does far more than just affect the progesterone --> allopregnanolone pathway, the body is infinitely complex, and hence solving this problem is a complex and multi-factorial issue which requires research.
Hence why pfsfoundation.org exists and why research initiatives are or will be underway. If you want to get closer to real answers, please support these research efforts.
Is there any way we can possibly try to spread the word of pfsfoundation.org ?
Via internet, media, etc ? This is our best chance at a cure and for people like myself, I can not afford to donate any kind of $ as I can barely squeak by as is.
I am GREATLY appreciative for those of you who can and do donate, but the more exposure of this foundation would do all the better.
Does anyone speak Japanese. Again I beg for the answer, Why do these scientist use Finasteride to abolish the protective affects of progesterone and thus diminish the concentration of allopregenalone?
So have we heard anything from the foundation lately?
Finatruth
How many days did you use progesterone?
Only to not expect updates very often.
Cut the shit, Cap.
Yeah we def need to be more patient, Traish and Colangi studies of depleted neurosteroids is no doubt huge. I actually believe they do know the exact root cause of this. I believe as the article stated they are looking at novel therapeutic treatments. You usually don’t jump to that phase unless you have a pretty solid idea of what’s going on.
