New patient, took just 6 pills, please help. High prolactin.

Hi guys, I’m 23, and have been experiencing ED for about 3 months now.

I first took 4 pills of fin(1mg/day) for four days in early November 2019. Suffered from ED within a week of quitting and the problem got resolved in about 3 weeks from then.

I thought it might be in my head so I decided to restart fin because of my hair loss. Took one pill on Jan 27 2020 and another on Feb 3 2020. By Feb 7th I started to experience ED, low libido etc but not really any mental side effects as such or whatever they are, they seem manageable thus far.

I must say some of the stuff here has been really helpful in convincing my parents that it’s not all in my head which is a big boost for me.

I recently got a hormonal panel done and although most results are pending, my prolactin came pretty high, at about 29(not sure of units) whereas 15 is the upper range of normal.

I think I have regained some girth of my penis when erect although the erections are obviously quite soft and bent. No morning/nocturnal or spontaneous erections.

I took Viagra once and saw a return of about 80-90% erection. And without the viagra, for the next three days my erections were good, but still no spontaneous ones or morning/nocturnal.

I also managed to convince my urologist that it’s not a psychological problem after reading stuff on this forum and so a huge thank you to you guys in helping me get the faith of my parents and doctor.

**Anyone here managed to lower prolactin and resolve their problem? ** Thanks.

Hey @infor, sorry to hear about your situation.
I have also experienced high prolactin level and was prescribed Dostinex (cabergoline) by an endocrinologist. It is a strong dopamine agonist and it’s a first line drug for prolactinoma treatment. It should be taken a half pill twice a week. After 3 weeks a blood test should be performed again.
High prolactin causes ED and low libido. Too low levels are not good either. I advise you to see an endocrinologist before taking any actions yourself.
If it turns out that your prolactin level is your main issue, it’s something not hard to be fixed at all.

Thanks for your reply man, I am going to talk to an endocrinologist soon. Did it solve your problem? Or did you have other hormones imbalanced as well? What’s your story?

Good thing you’ve been able to get a hormonal panel so soon despite corona. I think your case is interesting as I also have only sexual sides. Let us know if you are able to manage those prolactin levels. I hadn’t heard about prolactin before, pretty curious what my own prolactin levels will be as soon as I can get tested.

I too have high prolactin around 32. Just saw my endo and had it retested to see if it has come down any. waiting for the results
