Hormone tests: propeciahelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=92
Once you have hormone tests done you can see what the drug has done to you, and evaluate treatment options if there’s issues.

Stay away from alcohol, it’s not good the liver and is estrogenic. Finasteride can increase estrogen levels so adding to that with alcohol is not good.

Also, my hair hasn’t been falling out as it used to prior to taking the drug… would it correct to say that my DHT levels are probably not normal or back to the way they were?

toadstool,

It’s not as simple as just our DHT levels. I had my DHT tested and it came back normal. It was right in the middle of my range. Do some more research on this site. There is wealth of information.

The drug influences many hormones in our body. It effects Total T, Free T, LH, FSH, HGH, Prolactin & Estrogen just to name a few. The strange thing is that most of our hormone ranges are all messed in different ways. It really is a horrible drug.

I agree with Mew. Stay away from the booze. It is bad for anyone, but we have to me more careful than most people. Alcohol lowers testosterone.

I read all the FAQ’s and I guess I should get blood tests done, but I still hope and believe I will recover in the 1 year time frame…Is it sort of common that a lot of people have recovered in that kinda time frame(1 year)? I remember reading somewhere that maybe Merrick said that in rare cases it took people 1 year to recover???or was am I mistaken and they never said that…?

I’ve decided that I am going to wait the full year before trying anything drastic, I think that, and this is just my opinion, a lot of people’s recoveries just took TIME, not any sort of hormone therapy or whatever… at least that’s what i’ve gather from a few recoverers/sufferers…I think in some cases it may be more damaging then good… again just my opinion…

The best advice I could give to someone would be NOT to panic, because quite frankly it doesn’t do you any good. I haven’t panicked yet but it is very frustrating… the best thing you can do is try to live your life to fullest no matter what…

You may recover in a year and you may not. It’s not as simple as saying a bunch of other people have recovered in a year, so I should to.

You should go get your blood tested and find out what exactly is wrong with you. I have had seven blood tests done. Now, I feel as though I am finally getting close to figuring out what is wrong with me.

There are dozens of hormones and proteins that can be tested for, that this drug effects. You won’t know what specific ones are messed up until you run a few blood tests.

Today I went to see a doctor who is an interalist. Told him my story, and he did believe me to some degree… Going to take a bunch of tests tomorrow morning. Hes testing my liver, hormones and thyroid. He said hes going to test test, dht, prolatin, and fsh, idk if hes going to test anymore then that or not. I’m also taking a urine analysis.

You probably have a good chance at recovery. But, that’s anyones guess. Its been 6 months for me and really no permenant changes for the better so far. Some ups and downs, mostly downs. Yes, get your blood tests done and see an endo.

I’ve been taking 4000 IU’s Vit d3 last 3 days and its made me feel alot better. But, I know alot have done the Vit D3 thing and get a quick improvement for a few weeks then are back to crash levels.

Anyone heard from toadstool? The last I heard he ran a bunch of tests that indicated leaky gut and he was going to follow a protocol to try and help fix this. That was quite a while ago. It seems about 3-4 months ago.

I would be curious to know if he has experienced any improvements.

He is my friend on facebook and I have seen him posting, nothing unusual and seemed to be positive stuff.

I’m doing very well… Much improved… More to come…
