What (if any) treatments have you undertaken to recover from your side effects since discontinuation of the drug? I’ve tried Viagra, Cialis, caverject, shockwave therapy

If you have pre or post-drug blood tests, what hormonal changes have you encountered since discontinuing the drug (please post your test results in the “Blood Tests” section and link to them in your post)i’ve just had a hormonal blood test today will add when I get the results

Anything not listed in the above questions you’d like to share about your experience?

When I took the drug I was never sexual active, had no desire to be for the most part and never had erections or really pleasured myself.

I then met someone, was nervous because never done anything before so took viagra and it did nothing, I did ejaculate but it was so watery this was October 2018.

I went to the gp following not being able to get erect with or without tablets, he told me to come off finesteride and to get some bloods done.

The bloods came back fine but it was only tested for one lot of test not both and not hormones.

I continued to try viagra 100mg and I was managing to get some response sometimes but when it came to sex it would go soft within a couple of minutes.

Over the next 2 months my semen returned to normal and my libido increased dramatically but the erection issues were still there.

I went private to a urologist he examined me said everything looked fine but did say it was probably due to the finesteride and sent a letter to my gp for daily Cialis, I get slight response to this.

I then started to look further a field and found a company in London who did shockwave therapy, I went for the consultation and had a doppler 15mg normally its 7.5mg but after explaining 20mg Cialis doesn’t do much he went with that, I managed to get a 80-90% erection from this but wasn’t fully hard, he did the ultrasound and said that the finesteride may have caused issues with the blood vessels and blood flow.

I started the shockwave therapy that day which repairs the smooth muscle and creates new blood vessels, i’m 9/12 appointments in a month but haven’t noticed anything yet.

However in the mean time I have used 20mg caverject and I have been able to 100% erections, this being the case I think the issue may be with blood flow or a leak as I can get erect with tablets but not fully and lose it and caverject most the time I get a really good response.

I have tried a lot of herbal remedies such as L-arginine. Red ginseng, yohimbine, amino acids, I fasted for over a month also and no impovements

So basically I can get erect with tablets but not fully and cant keep it, or with injections can get fully hard and keep it is this a issue with veins or something, also I can ejaculate fine but can’t seem to ejactulate a second time easily and my penis seems worn out unless its from the injection then sometime I can get erect

I risk losing my fiancé over this and that would cause a complete breakdown for me, I just have no idea what the exact issue is other that the finesteride caused something to go wrong, seen many people and tried numerous stuff but do I just bite the bullet and get a implant?

Tell us your story, in your own words, about your usage and side effects experienced while on/off the drug.

Sorry to hear your story. Anyway, I dont think there is a physiological problems with blood/vasels but probably with some mechanism behind it, like certain neurotransmiters/hormones in brain/body being released. If U can have full enjoyment using cialis etc (I mean full sensitivity and you r horny), its a good thing. Be carefull about implant because Im not sure how it works and how many patients are satisfied with it.

Yeah its the case that my libido is really good and I have the desire for sex, the injections work on high dosage but can only be used 3 times a week and once a day, not to mention there price.
Pills are cheaper for the amount, I would be so happy if I could keep my erections during sex through pills like I can do with injections, but I can’t use injections everyday, my body wants sex everyday though so hoping the shockwave helps the erections on the pills side

I’m sorry to hear about your problems, Michael. As you approach a year off Fin, can I ask if you experienced any other notable events? Did you experience a crash?

That is a time when shortly after stopping the drug, things got better for a time and then dramatically worsened?

I know another person here has said they had great success with Shockwave and another who said that they were quoted a large sum for a series of treatments, more than the cost of a machine. Can I ask if the London Doctor is on Harley Street?

Hey man, did the doctor in London confirm any problem with the blood flow using the doppler test? Did he find anything? Or did he just speculate that something might be wrong?

Hi Greek, I kind of had a crash yeah, I could get fully erect with viagra for foreplay but for sex I lost it before I even started. I eventually got through that and i’m able to have sex but I lose it within minutes unless its through injection at a high dose. Yeah the shockwave is at harley street and is expensive so far I’ve had 9/12 sessions and haven’t noticed any change yet, still not erections without medication unless desperate for the loo then it can be fully erect, but I have had all my shockwaves in a month and have been told to wait a few more weeks as progress can differ from each person, if I had a leak though wouldn’t I leak with injections too or not?

He said that my blood flows acxeptable with the injections but for someone my age it isn’t, i’m going to ring tomorrow to see what they say about a leak as they offer treatment for that too but as above would I leak too if I was on injections? Because with them it stays fully erect

He just said the finesteride may have cause issues with the elasticity of the blood vessels I think

Thanks for your frank replies, I think as you say that it’s likely that your problem isn’t mechanical, in that the blood will stay in when given a tablet to assist.

Obviously, the question is what the problem might be.

If you plan on continuing with h the shockwave treatment, it might be worth considering purchase of a machine you could use at home.

Yeah its the case is what is the issue, yeah it works fine with injections but not really what I want to rely ond not nice to do, if I can stay erect during penetration through pills that will do as I can take them more regualr.

With shockwave after 12 sessions you pretty much level out apparently so not much point getting a machine to get it one with just 3 left

Also could you put me in contact with the person you say had a really good response to shockwave, would be great to speak to someone who has had it also and would be greatly appreciated

I’m in a rush right now, but if you search “shockwave” on the forum, it will come up pretty quick, it was very recently posted.

From what I can see Greek he’s using the machine that would be used for kidney stone this is a different machine but read he is geeting results with tablets for about 5 days a time

Forgot that I had been sent a medical report from thr consultation in London

Examination:
Normal genitalia. 15 mcg of pge produce a 90% erection (warned of the risk of priapism). The Doppler showed a phase 4 with normal vascular paramters

Diagnosis:
Vasculogenic ED

Treatment options:
Options for him are either to continue with ICI (and we will train him for this) or he can have a course of 6 sessions of ESWT to downgrade his ED (likely to be successful in 80% of cases)

Anyone know what a phase 4 is?

And also due to the diagnosis I guess this means just bad blood flow or a leak?

I guess I may have had a issue underlying and finesteride just quickened it up

Worth getting @quest to weigh in on this, perhaps.

Apparently from what I could find theough google

phase 4: diastolic flow reversal occurs with maximum systolic velocity; this is associated with penile rigidity

Peak systolic velocity is the best Doppler indicator of arteriogenic impotence. Its value <30 cm/sec during the examination indicates arterial dysfunction. Some people consider <25 cm/sec as definite arterial dysfunction and 25-30 cm/sec as borderline case. I’m sure he said mine was 38
