New Blood results! Any insights?

Close to 3 years off Propecia now. I am 29 years old. Sides are ED and watery ejaculation.

My new results on 12/03/09

ESTRADIOL: 26 pg/ml( <56 )
LH: 3.3 MIU/ML (1-9)
PROLACTIN: 10.6 ng/ml(3-30)
DHEA Sulphate: 583 ug/dl (80-560)
Thyroide peroxidase AB: <10 (<35)
Testosterone: 368 (241-827)
SHBG: 15 (13-71)
Calc Free testo: 10.7 (6-27)
VITAMIN D: 33 (30-100)
DHT: 327 pg/ml (106-718)

Vitamin D supplement has been showing effect. Though Testoterone is slightly better, its still very low. Dont know why DHEA is high!! Does my LH and DHT look ok?

Anyways, Endo says the best way is to start TRT. I asked him if we could try Clomid and HCG first to restart HTPA. He said he hasnt seen any restart happening and test levels fall back, but he can do that if I want it.

Any suggestions people? I am just taking vitamin supplements and doing the Broc treatment. Also called Dr Shippens office. He’s booked out for 2 months!!

ALT 13 u/l (7-56)
T3 Uptake: 36.3% (20-38.5)
T4: 9.9 ug/dl (4.4-12.4)
TSH: 2.5 uiu/ml (.3 - 5.1)
T3 Free: 4.0 pg/ml(2.3 - 4.2)

my blood test also revealed elevated DHEA-S.
maybe you get your cortisol checked since it could point to quite active adrenal glands.
Got my urin panel back today and indeed my DHEA and cortisols are elevated. Maybe adrenal glands are overactive.
Testo seems indeed still low in your case, maybe explains also lower DHT.

hi
You have taken vit D supplement in the past…now your level is clearly low. Have you asked the doctor? what kind of vit D supplement did you take. Are you on treatment right now?
Bye

texas123,

Yea I agree with insomnia on the Vit D. I think I might have mentioned that to you before. You need to get more foods that are rich in Vit D, like Salmon, other fish, milk. Take a vit D and calcium supplement and get more sunlight. Make no mistake about it though, Testosterone helps are our bodies improve muslce and bone strength. Your low vit D level is a result of using this crap, so don’t let any dr tell you otherwise.

You total T and free are very low like most all of us. I like to calculate my all of my totals by figuring out what percent I’m at of my bodies range. I think it hits home how bad things really are. You are at 4.8% of your bodies normal free T range. You are at 2.3% of your bodies normal range for Total T. Your Vit D is off the map, really bad.

Even more important, how do you feel? Do you feel like you have a lack of energy. Do you feel weak and not physically sturdy? Is your memory and focus an issue for you? These are all signs of low T.

My endo has ordered for a cortisol test. Should get it next week. “adrenal glands are overactive.” - what does that indicate??
Endo has also ordered MRI of pituitary, may be that will give some insight.

Hey Bostonusa/Insomnia

Though I have low T, my real problem is just poor erections are reduced ejaculate. I seem to have no problem concentrating (gave a 4 hr test and did good). As for VIT D it was ‘8’ 3 months back, I have been taking 6000 IU everyday for last one month and it has come up to ‘33’. I will continue to take this (along with other multivitamin supps). Lets see if it goes up more and statys there.
Really my only problem is getting a good erection and maintaining it. I must say that its been a week of Broc treatment and the ejaculation quality has improved slightly (say ifFIN reduced it to 20% its now 40%). Broc treatment hasnt helped my erections though. Morning erections are not be seen. God why did i take that damn pill.
I do plan on visiting Dr. Shippen (hes booked out right now). I am considering Shippen over Crisler because the importance Shippen puts on VIT D (as I read in some posts) because it might have a role to play in my case.
Any idea if the pituitary MRI is safe? My endo asked for for it and I plan to get it done next week.

I don’t think it should hurt to have the MRI done on the Pituitary gland. He just wants to be sure you don’t have a tumor there most likely. Don’t be alarmed with the possibility of a tumor in the Pituitary gland. Obviously it’s a bad thing, but in most cases it’s not cancerous and it can be treated through medication or in worst cases surgery if it is still an issue.

Do update us on the MRI though once you have had it done. I have not had that done and thought about getting it done, just knowing that part of our problems exist in the Pituitary gland.

My LH is 3.3 MIU/ML (1-9). Is this low for someone of my age? Could this indicate that the Low T problem is really Pituitary and not testicular. In that case may be Clomid is a good drug for me, right?
Yeah, I’ll update about the MRI.
Also, this is the multivitamin I am taking. My doc gave me the box for this. May be this has helped me boost some Testosterone. numedica.com/FreeAccess/Prod … name=NM161 Do you see anything wrong here? I see Tribulus mentioned here, is that a risky substance?
Thanks for your inputs.

LH varies quite a bit from one ten minute interval to another. FSH is a better sign of what your average pituatary output of gonadatropins is like - problem is post fin folks often have lousy FSH levels which seem tied to ejaculate issues.

DHEAS could be stacking up because you are not pulling it down to T and then DHT.

Vitamin D is pretty marginal. Consider having the active metabolite (1, 25 OH) tested by a lab with a flash freezer.

Well got my Cortisol checked and its in the high range 22 (7-25), does this mean Adrenal fatigue? Are you doing anything to counter it?

Hey Texas,

You need your 3 Adiol G checked please. It’s pointless drawing any conclusions from your results until they are complete.

Yes, your T looks low but one should still be able to get erections with that T level.

Please test your 3 Adiol G ASAP.

Please educate yourself on the following link and go forth.

This would seem to indicate that your adrenals are getting worked HARD, not that they are fatigued yet. I’m just speculating but it could be due to poor T levels.

elevated cortisol does not mean adrenal fatigue. it means they are pretty active. i had my cortisol checked in serum and it came back high in the morning (not too high though) and normal in the afternoon and evening. but, my urine panel showed elevated cortisol levels.
in addition my DHEA-S came back elevated in serum once and high the second time i measured it.
DHEA is elevated in my urine panel.
DHEA is made more or less exclusively in the adrenal gland, so even if DHEA is normal in serum the elevated output in the urine indicates some production of it. Together with Cortisol, elevated Androstendion and DHEA my adrenal glands seem to be quite active. Crisler does not really agree on it, however I do and follow up this issue… .
