New and confused

Hi everyone. Been reading this site for a few weeks now. This is my 1st post. I took Propecia for 2 years and stopped 3 years ago after noticing Gyno. I have all the symptoms you all speak of. 3 weeks ago I was diagnosed with Prostatitis after feeling very ill for 3 months.

Anyway, all I want to do now is get better and I have to thank you all for the info and advice shared. However, I’m confused about one thing. I got my Testosterone result back today and it was normal. Is this normally the case? Do I need to get other hormones checked?

Welcome to the board.

I assume you have read the FAQ at the top of this forum already? If not please do so.

Interesting that you were diagnosed with Prostatitis, some members have also had this after taking Finasteride… not surprising though since the drug’s method of action directly targets the Prostate.

Anyway regarding your question – was Testosterone the only thing you got tested? If so I advise you to get RETESTED using the sticky post in the “Hormone and BloodTests” section about what blood tests to get.

While your Total T may be normal, your Free/Bioavailable T may be low, or other imbalances may exist that could be causing you problems, ie high Estradiol, SHBG, Prolactin, liver enzymes etc… that’s why you need a full hormone profile, to see the big picture.

Thanks Mew. I’ll read it.
