Neurotransmitter tests?

Out of curiosity, has anyone here had a neurotransmitter test to check their levels? I understand these are able to be tested via urine or blood, but I’m unsure if a psychiatrist would be able to do this kind of test, so I figured asking you guys might be helpful.

Yes, Catecholamine testing (epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine) can be done (urine/blood), however I have read it is not necessarily the most reliable indicator – a direct spinal tap of cerebrospinal fluid would be (particularly for Dopamine).

These tests do not cover GABA, serotonin, Allopregnanolone, THDOC etc.

The user Markus has inquired about testing for certain ones and here is the response his Endo gave:

while tests do exist there is no scientific proven way to accurately measure neuro chemicals in the human brain. i’m not saying not to get the tests done and see what the outcome is, but just be aware that isn’t a set in stone measure.
