I took Propecia for 8 weeks total, ending for good in late July, which means I’ve now been off for 10+ weeks, and I still have problems speaking smoothly like I used to. I have some phraseology I can say better but I often keep my mouth shut in “fear” of messing up a joke or one liner.
Right now here are the supplements I’ve been taking:
- Soy i.e. soymilk, soy isoflavones (started right at the same time as Propecia)
- Milk Thistle (stated a week ago but only took for three days b/c I saw a side effect of it was impotence, even though I can’t verify that)
- Spirulina (since late July)
- Flax Seed oil (Since April)
- Green Tea (since April)
- Acidophilus (since August)
- Saw palmetto (started in April before I started Propecia, then stopped when I stopped propecia after 7 weeks, and did not take it for the final week I was on Propecia, proving the mental side effects was from the Propecia and not the saw palmetto)
- Garlic (since last week)
- I also started eating a stem of broccoli each day (started a week ago)
I also stopped drinking milk right before I started Propecia, but started back up again recently. I generally eat well i.e. whole wheat bread, tomatoes, onions, olives, bell pepper, oregano, swiss cheese, soymilk, milk, coffee, green tea, grape juice – these are staples of my diet. I also weight lift 6 days a week (I’m 6’3, 215lb) and do enough cardio, and while I feel like it makes me more relaxed, it doesn’t necessarily help my speech.
Any tips people? Propecia is the only pharmaceutical I’ve ever taken, and I don’t want to take another one to “cure” the side effect from Propecia, b/c that could lead to other problems which would suck more.
