My weird story, is this even possible?

Hey guys, been here for a long time but I don’t think I ever really told my story in its own thread. So here it goes (the short version):

Got on fin when I was 23,5 years old back in 2006 after my barber suggested that my hair is thinning at the crown. Of course I went into desperate mode and soon realized that it’s not only the crown, but the whole top of my head is thinning. Jumped on fin in June 2006 (well summer anyways), but it didn’t really help my hair. Had some breast insensitivity and maybe enlargement, the insensitivity went away but the enlargement has stuck with me to this day (had slight gyno to begin with, even before fin).

Anyway, I used fin until the turn of 2008, so it was around 1,5 years. I stopped then and to be honest, I was feeling pretty great for 2-3 years after that. My testosterone was very high (it was tested, it was off the “normal” chart), my skin was very oily and my libido was probably stronger than ever and I shot huge loads. If I went a day without jacking off I would often cum in my sleep! That’s how high my libido was. My body temperature was normal-high, often bursting to over 37 C in the evening. Come to think of it, I might have even been hypergonadal back then, although I slept really well during those years.

Then, overnight in early 2011, everything changed. And it literally happened over night! I had a night out with my friends and drank some, pretty much actually, but not an abnormal amount since I had to go to work the next day. But when I was drinking, something happened, and I pretty much passed out (never happens) and one of my friends had to drag me home. The next day I felt ok, went to work normally but when I got home that afternoon, a sickness struck me… bad. I had to go throw up and I felt ultra sick for the rest of the evening. I was so cold that I couldn’t take a shower, I was freezing my nuts off! After that I never really recovered, as stupid as this might sound! My skin and hair were very dry and dull and skin was dry-flaky. The testosterone had dropped close to the normal low baseline and I felt very hypogonadal, and still do. My body temperature is low-ish and I have cold feet and hands. The only thing I initially associated with this change was that I recently started using SMS powder (recommended for hair growth) before “the crash”, so I thought it was the culprit. But now I don’t think so, I think it was fin all along. I felt even hopeless enough to start fin again in 2011 and used it for 4 months, and unsurprisingly with no results.

The question after this novel I’ve written here is that do you guys think it’s possible to first (after quitting fin) get a very high test and libido and then, 3 years after quitting, experience a crash? 'Cause I think that’s what happened and after I found out I was balding, I have been very observant when it comes to changes in my well-being, almost to the point of neurotic.

I had that freezing feeling when I crashed. Thought I had the flu, checked my temp and it was like 95.5 degrees, well below regular.

No change for you? Still have cold hands?

^ No dramatic change, no. The cold feet have been a little better for about a year now, but I get them from time to time (before it was all the time). I’ve noticed that if I don’t remember to eat enough, I get cold feet and low body temp easily. These symptoms I have hint that I have problems with either adrenal glands or thyroid (levothyroxine didn’t help, quite vice versa).

I don´t think one can develop PFS 3 years afterquitting and being normal for all that time.

So in my opinion you developed PFS because of re-taking for 4 months finasteride in 2011. It is a common story here, people who used finasteride for a time, stopped, didn´t develop PFS, but after re-taking it at any time they finally developed it. It is a russian roulette. I guess the more you stop and re-start it (in my case for instance I did breaks between packages) the more hard for your body to hormonally rebalance. It is logically not good for the body to be one time DHT-off, one time DHT-on and so.

^ The symptoms I mentioned (“crash”) started before I jumped back on fin… that’s the weird part.

Your crash sounds identical to mine. I drank (spring break). At night, when I got home (did not drink this day), I started feeling very flu-ish, extreme fatigue out of no where. I went to sleep and woke up in the morning with PFS, my dick was non-existant. I also ended up having strep. throat / flu coincide with the onset of PFS.

Regarding low temperature, thyroid meds will not work well unless you take them with cortef or medrol. I found that out the hard way.

How many months before?

3-4 months.

Yeah it’s just that it’s very hard to get diagnosed for adrenaline fatigue here in Finland, so I’ve never even had a chance to test hydrocortisone! My morning cortisol was all over the place when tested last summer but my doc took no notice of it…

That night or other nights, did you take recreational drugs?

Also, Do you have any medical condition?

I have never even tried any drug. Well I surely have a medical condition after fin, but not before. If toenail fungus doesnt count…

Ok, very weird indeed.

However, your situation probably became more persistent to re-take finasteride again those months.

Yeah it was very stupid to start fin again, but I was in desperate mode and not thinking straight.

Sounds very similar to me. I’ve got exactly the same “reflex hyperandrogenicity” that you’ve experienced from Fin (increased oily skin/scalp, increased libido, massive loads). Did you get an itchy scalp along with these symptoms? Thats the reason I’m here - its so painful, oily and itchy 4 months after stopping Fin.

Now after reading your story I’m terrified I’m gonna experience the same crash in the months/years to come.

^ Unfortunately I got bad news for you if you’re in the same boat… YES! I got an extremely itchy scalp after a few months on fin, at its worst it even prevented me from sleeping. It got slowly better when I quit but still some itchiness and after the crash the itchiness went crazy again (along with very dry scalp and hair), that’s one of the reasons I panicked and got on fin again. Nowadays the itching is bearable, sometimes noticeable but usually I don’t even pay attention to it. And that’s a GREAT situation compared to what it once was so I’m all happy in that department.

I’m confused - after you went through the horror of a crash, why would you take Fin again? Especially since you’ve seen this forum. My hair is precious to me but after reading the stories on here I wouldn’t touch the stuff again with a 10 foot pole.

Like I explained… I panicked and wasn’t thinking straight. I felt so fucking bad at the time, it was unbearable.
