Hello to all :slightly_smiling_face:

I have registered in this forum because I have been suffering from severe PSSD for over 5 months now. My psychiatrist at the time prescribed me the antidepressant Deanxit in the fall of 2016, which consists of a tricyclic antidepressant and a neuroleptic. This against my generalized anxiety disorder.

Already at the beginning of taking it I noticed that the antidepressant brought me about 20% less performance in the sexual area. I had never had any sexual problems before. However, at that time I could live with it. The drug also dampened my emotional perception. But I could also live with that at that time because the effect against my anxiety disorder was very good.

However, the longer I took the medication, the more these side effects bothered me. I was able to reduce the medication considerably, but my anxiety disorder came back. In the summer of 2019 I was so desperate that my anxiety disorder did not improve, that I unfortunately started taking St. John’s wort along with my antidepressants. As a result, I had a large surplus of my antidepressant for about five days, because the St. John’s Wort prevented the breakdown of it.

Fortunately I recovered well from this incident at first. But a few months later, in early November 2019, it suddenly felt like a switch had flipped. I developed the same symptoms that I had when I had an excess of medication in the summer. At first I still had a few days and hours when I felt better. Since the beginning of this year these have completely disappeared. These are the following symptoms:

  • Massive anhedonia / numbed emotions
  • 100% anxiety-free (to the extent that it is no longer comfortable)
  • The CNS seems to be completely inactive. I no longer feel any excitement.
  • Sexually, I have all the symptoms. On most days I would describe myself as 100% impotent. On some days I manage to get an erection and orgasm, but these moments are more like an ordeal than a joyful act.

So far I have not tried any treatment options because I am aware how dangerous some attempts can be for us. However, I will probably start doing so soon, because my condition has been so bad for a long time now.

I am looking forward to reading from you and will possibly use this thread to provide updates on my situation. It always depends a bit on whether I can motivate myself to deliver updates, especially since nothing has changed in my condition for quite some time.

Best wishes and get well soon to all

PS: I still have to take 30% of a tablet of Deanxit because I can’t tolerate further reductions very well. All the symptoms listed here get worse when I try to reduce the tablet. Since my medication is a tricyclic antidepressant (+ neuroleptics) and I am still taking a fraction of my medication, it may not be possible to speak of PSSD to be precise. Nevertheless I am sure that what I am experiencing here is PSSD.

Can’t call it pssd as you are still on meds. You might have pssd, and you might not. You can only tell after discounting the meds fully.

Btw, I also have GAD and ocd. They were exaggerated by the meds. The anxiety went away when I’ve started low-carb high fat diet.

You might want to give this diet (or ketogenic diet) a try. It can improve you anxiety to liveable level.

Good luck
