My story - Stanley, 25 y\o

Hi there,

I’m 25, Canadian.

I started to take Proscar at 21, under some pressure of my family and the girlfriend I had at this time. That’s a bit ironic, cuz at this time I totally didn’t care about loosing my hair… My aunt told my mom about some drug that avoid hairloss, that my older cousin at taken. Anyway, without knowing anything about the potential secondary effects, I started to take it.

I was on it for 21 months. And suddently, during a travel to Costa Rica, I just stopped. Without any reason. I didn’t take it for 5 days, and then, I decided that I had enough (we were in july 2009).

I never experience any symptoms while on the drug. None. Probably because I was in my early twenties, full on hormones… or some reason.

No symptoms when I stopped either. I didn’t noticed a thing. Anyway, I didn’t know Finasteride could cause ED, ou anything shitty.

But something happened 7 months later. I guess I crashed. I noticed I was really hard to arouse ; it was hard to maintaint erections ; it was also hard to ejaculate. I tought this was cuz I was with some girls I didn’t really love. But, I had the same trouble alone.

Here I am, 2 years later…

Symptoms :

Difficulty to get\maintaint erections
Loss of sensibility to the penis
Less libido

I would say depressed\lack of motivation, but I think that this is related to other things, like the shitty and violent world we’re living in. Anyway.

Perfect physical condition ; really thin body. No health issues. Good erections before Finas\whil on finas.

Here are my questions :

-Does anybody else had to wait so long to notice symptoms after stopping Finasteride ? (7 months maybe more).

-Is there a lot of people that had no other symptoms that sexual ones ? I mean, I am more muscled that never, energic, in good physical form. Anyway.

Review my responses to another user who claims he “thinks he might/isn’t sure” he has issues 8 months later. This is not the typical timeline for persistent issues, most men experience impotence, loss of libido, drop in Testosterone etc within weeks of quitting drug… not nearly a year later.

8 months of great health post-drug means you should probably investigate other avenues for your problems.

Users will probably think that I used another username to post my story again but thats EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME BRO!

I experienced sexual problems 8 months later, after 8 months of perfect health and even now when I have the sexual sides I dont have any mental/Physical or Psychological side effects as mentioned here on this site, it seems to me that people who crash get better with time and I mean the 2 weeks crash but people like us Dont!

I am experiencing a pain during the erection though so maybe my excessive masturbation was the problem and caused a physical injury but I m not sure that this will cause impotence, anyway i went to 3 urologists who told me I was perfectly normal.

And now I dont have any other symptoms other than the sexual ones, however in my case my Libido is high and I can feel my penis i mean no loss of sensitivty my problem is with the erection and Premature Ejaculation

PFS has been created due to the symptoms and timeline that other users have mentioned but how can you be sure that propecia doesnt effect others differently like me and Stanley??? It qualifies as PFS also but different symptoms and timeline!

I think it is quite possible to get sides after few months for some users. I remember , a user the_ruffneck posted similar case few years back. He got his sides few months after stopping the drug. I noticed my sides in March 2009 and then kept worsening until hit my peak in November 2009. If this is auto immune anti bodies as this is the hot theory on this forum, then maybe some users develop anti bodies slowly and it takes months to show all the symptoms.
The best way to confirm is to get the blood test. if you come secondary hypogonada and blood tests follow the particular pattern here then no doubt the problem is from fin use. Especially if you have low FSH , LH, Free T, total T, bio available T and high or normal E2 then there should be no reason why this is not from fin use.

Yea I know some people have it differently like me, hehehehe if Mew had discovered Parkinsons Disease he would probably say that Michael J Fox doesnt have it because he is not over 50, just because you dont have the classic symptoms it doesnt mean that you dont have the disease!

But let me ask u, did u develop other symptoms than sexual, because my symptoms are sexual only and did u have any penile pain? and how are you doing now?

I didn’t find a thread specifically about this, so here is it !

Personnality, my main problem is maintaining an erection, cuz most of the time, I really dont feel a thing while having sex with my GF.

Getting erected is easy, but maintaining without feeling a thing… (or only light feelings…) is sometimes not easy - and I dont mention the lack of fun from penetrating without pleasure… It is especially hard when I ejaculated less than - lets say 24\48 hrs ago. So, the key is to avoid ejaculate too often… I also read that ejaculation raise the prolactin levels, which - in too high levels - can lead to some sexual dysfunctions : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prolactin

Does anyone has tips, products, treatment to suggest in the situation ?

I read on some blog that baby oil with Vitamine E (hum ?) was helpful for people for sensibility issus causes by circumcision.

That’s it !

vitamin e did the opposite for me and actually made my penis go numb when i took it. i rubbed vitamin e oil on it and it gradually started going numb over the course of a week or two, and i stopped. i then took it through the drops that you drop on your tongue, i did the drop on my tongue and my penis went numb in about 15 minutes.

other people have said it did good for them though… few things here it will do good for some people, bad for others. but just wanted to let ya know my experience.
