I feel that I have a dry mouth and very low salive.
I started shaking in the whole body but this may be due to the lowered body temprature
I had a feeling that my facial hair was easy to pluck off

So my story is basically I took 0.25 mg of propecia in the morning together with breakfast and started feeling some side effects only 1 hour after.
I have very low motivation for anything at the moment. Just today around 4-6 pm I was feeling better but that went away.

I ordered propecia from the internet and with that said, I got the prescription by a doctor trough the site. I did not check my blood levels before using propecia.
Since I have just taken 1/4 pill once i couldnt imagine this would happen. I know that side effects would go away most of the time, however with so many side effects in just 1 day what step should I be taking from here?
By the way, I do not excercise at all. I have bought a bottle of zinc 30 mg and been drinking green tea.
This really might sound like some joke, but this is really how it has affected me and I need help very fast. I have not talked to any doctor yet and im asuming that it wouldnt help much.
What steps do I take from here? what can I do to recover faster (if at all), how long does it take?

Please, any help or advice is extremly appreciated.

Good morning, this is day 3. I woke up today feeling better overall mentally, I still experience all the side effects except that I seem to have improved alot mentally. I dont feel any anxiety, feel alot less brain fog and now reamining positive in healing.
However, there is something that disturbs me and that is my shrunk penis and testicles. I noticed that I am experiencing less testicular pain but its still there, and there seems to be coming alot of sound from my prostate or maybe my intestines, what should I do about this?

Dude, relax, you just panicked. It’s not like you’re gonna have PFS only because you took 0.25mg. Truth be told, I really doubt something is gonna happen to you. Give it a few days or weeks and everything is gonna be alright.

By the way, when you do get better don’t forget to come back here and post your condition. Not necessary to come back here before that.

This is day 3, and today I felt much better. right now im just trying to write down whatever I can think of. I could say that I still experienced the same side effects but they are definitely showing improvement. Most of the side effects felt
I felt that my libido was better, and I had success getting my penis harder but I decided to not do it.
The fogy brain, anxiety and depression feeling improved alot.

The testicular pain (which im thinking is from the prostatis) remains but at some points even that felt much less.

Dry mouth and low saliva have improved.

I took vitamin D and zinc suplements, ate lots of fruit including bananas, almonds, apple, mandarin, drank lots of water. Both my meals consisted of salmon with potato or rice. My lust of apetite wasnt very high, but I tried to eat just some and not too much. basically im just trying to listen to my body.

I havent exercised but had a feeling that I should at least move so I took a walk of maybe 1 km.
I could not get a deep sleep and woke up maybe 4 times during the night, but it definitely felt better than yesterdays constant stress, anxiety and panicking, alot better.
Any further tips is still highly appreciated.

I honestly didnt expect that a dose of only 0.25 would cause this and yes I remain very positive on the healing. But it is also very odd how everything happend the same day.

I’m not going to belittle for your one pill (also hi neighbour) but while it’s useful to describe your feelings/symptons, you have to remember that to assess whether you get hit by the side-effects requires that more time -has- to pass.

So in the meanwhile what you -NEED- to do next is to relax as much as possible. You will do as I say in the next few days (thanks for noniman for this).
It seems like a big list but you’ll realize that it’s basically avoiding any kind of stimulants and reducing stress to minimum, while relaxing as much as and when possible.

  • Once you’ve read these instructions, stay away from this forum!!! Reading others’ stories makes you worse. Stay away for at least 1 month and during that time stop thinking about your symptons and problems, it’s important. After that, confirm if you still have sustained side-effects. We don’t need no placebo in your frail condition right now.

  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine (or any stimulants) for the next few weeks/months. If you some cigarettes then don’t go overboard on them now.

  • If you exercise, avoid rigorous/intensive exercise - light exercise only.

  • Avoid excessive masturbation, say once every 3 or 4 days. I think it’s even better if you avoid it altogether (unless it becomes very bad), we’re assessing your improvements in the longer run and m.b. is definitely a stressor.

  • Avoid watching porn.

  • Try to get good rest and follow regular sleeping patterns.
    It helps a LOT that you follow sleep pattern of asleep 10pm -> 8am. Don’t watch any monitors and dim the lights/put most or all lights of before sleep (at 9 pm). Do not do any stimulating before sleep eg. exercising or videogames. Let fresh air into your room where you’ll sleep.
    You can do this much for some time, no? You want to avoid problems long term. I know you have problems with sleeping atm but it will improve.

  • Try to find a pasttime that helps you relax. It could be something simple like meditation, a relaxing bath, walk in the park, spending extra time with family etc. Taking naps are good and even just laying still with eyes closed is still good (having nothing to do or lot to think).

Personally, this 3-step thing helped me like TONS so I want you to do so as well, as many times you want (though avoid doing before sleeping). You can do this anywhere you want but you need to focus on it somewhat. This should relax + refresh you a lot! It sounds like bullshit new age/soccer mum stuff but just do it anyways, I got long experience with this and I think in your panicked, stressed state it’s all the better for you.

  1. Close your eyes
  2. Imagine something serene, beautiful and secure in your imagination.
    It can be a location (eg a perfect beach in mediterrain, with white rocks and mountain around you; a quiet waterfall etc) or a person who loves you unconditionally
  3. Then take 10 DEEP breaths while imagining this. You can do this as fast or as slow as you want but you can’t go overboard with breathing. If you start to feel dizzy, sit or lay down if you fear that you could faint.
    Deep breathing is something singers do - instead of taking little air in, expand your ribcage and lower stomach while breathing, like as if you take huge amount of air and it feels like it fills your entire lower body/stomach as well. Then expel all of it out (naturally rib cage closes).
  • Don’t fuss over this but if you want to/feel better on this, avoid fast food/canned food for now and you can avoid any milk products and grains for some time if you want. Maybe overly cautious but there’s a good reason for.
    It’s easy to do food still - you just cook a lot of vegetables and meat with meals. If you want carbohydrates, eat potatoes or white rice in moderation.

Remember, we’re definitely not assuming that you have PFS but this stuff definitely is important to get back on track.

Like I have mentioned earlier, I have just used 0.25 mg and because of that I wouldnt find it logical for the drug to have heavy impact or long-term side effects on me. I am very positive about healing.

I will follow the given instruction very strictly, once again I appreciate your help alot!!

I will just update the “log”, but once this is done I am leaving this forum and any other finasteride or hairloss related websites. At this point I regret with all my life for having taken that very low single dose.

This is beginning of day 4 (72 hours after intake), I had some problems sleeping at night, but I tried to be as relaxed as possible. During this night I had the strongest pain in my postate but this subsided around 3-4 pm. Now the pain is very little or next to nothing.
I went to bathroom maybe about 4 times during this night.
I went to bed around 11 and I think the main reason for not being able to sleep well was that I would sleep as late as 1 to 3 pm earlier nights.

The penis have grown a little bit bigger, and the numbness have improved quite a bit. I can feel the penis and the connection. Im very confident that I could get a boner at this point but because of the instructions I will avoid that for now.

The dry mouth have improved, and it seems that everytime I drink water it improves even more.
I experience no brain fog anymore, I am a little bit dizzy but that is certainly coming from the bad sleep patterns I have had.

I will update my next log in exactly one month (or earlier if I feel that I am completly healed) because of the instructions I am about to follow.
Also I am continue using the zinc, d-vitamin suplements and green tea as these really seem to improve my current state!

Hi once again.
despite the promise of not returning to this forum for a month I decided to make a post now. I have improved quite alot.
Its been 12 days now.

I was working very hard on feeling well, tried to listen to my body as much as I could

Healed side effects:

Brain fog (only first 1-2 days).
Anxiety and panick attacks also subsided. I havent experienced this since 29th october (day 6).
The symptoms kind of came and went away.
Depression is gone.
No more insomnia symptoms.
Light sensitivity is gone.
Dry eyes, now normal.
Muscle weakness is gone, but I dont feel the same old energy of exercising yet.
Saliva amount is back and I no longer feel dry in the mouth.
I can fel hunger and thirst.
Libido is back.
Sex drive is back, but I dont have the same urge yet (still healing).
Shrunk penis is back to normal size.
Prostate pain is gone.
Testicular pain is gone.
Numbness of body is gone.
No more dry skin, except for natural reasons due to the cold weather.
Body temps are normal now
I had 2 erections during sleep after day 6. no masturbation because of the programme im following, except for slight to make sure im having blod flow to the area.
yes I can get a boner, but not as hard as before (yet i hope).

Continued side effects:

rubbery penis
Penis still feels numb, at times it feels more sensitive. I do have sensation in this area but i dont really feel much pain when pinching it. also the glans doesnt feel as sensitive. I would say that I have 3/10 sensation and 6/10 at most (comes and goes)
Not much urge for exercising
Less deep voice?? (this might be placebo)
darker under eye circles (I had slight dark baggy eyes before, placebo?)

What I have done so far to improve:

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, I eat around 10 fruits a day compared to maybe 2-3 before.
Vitamin D
Drink lots of water and fruit juice.
Zinc 30 mg a day (stopped since day 5!!)
Green tea, drank maybe 5-6 a day (stopped since day 5!!)
No more chocolate, cookies, ice cream or or anything similar
No more alcohol for at least 1-2 months
Relax as much as possible. I have gone to university and all but I take it all very relaxed.
Kept body very heated, t-shirt + 1 or 2 sweaters (especially during first week), thick/heavy pants. Thick socks (helped alot with body heat).
kept my prostate area warm during while wearing wide pants to not apply pressure on the prostate area.
prostate massage. lol!
Ive been sleeping for minimum 7 hours and 30 mins, but about 9 hours on average.
Healthy food only, lots of seafood, vitamin enriched and vegetarian food. Meat included but not on high levels.

I stopped zinc and green tea because I heard they inhibit DHT, what im probably lacking in.

Now I just need some assist in one specific area.
I rarely exercised, last time i did was normal pushups at home 2 weeks before taking this poison drug. I just spontaneously decided to start training at times at home, never gymming outside
because of this history, should I start exercising now or wait more?
Any more ideas on how to improve? any help is very appreciated

I forgot mention that I had the urge to urinate alot, woke up maybe 4-5 times during the earlier nights just to urinate.
Peeing still feels different even now, its gotten alot better and is improving even now but at times it feels like taking time to start peeing and to get rid of the last drops of it.
Like I said, its feels like improving but any advice on this area would be helpful too.

The reason why I came back to this forum was beause I felt my side effects going away and I dont get feel getting psyched at all by others posts like many say. I find them helpful, but I dont spend my time reading most of them, not more than 10-15 mins every other day.

At the moment, I feel that I have improved overall but there is still room.

Sexual:
Due to less sleep beacuse of work it may have affected my penis.
Penis size is mostly normal but at times it could shrink slightly which I guess was normal earlier aswell. Sometimes balls hang low or the penis is too cold but it seems improving.
There were 3 nights in a row were I would have morning erections, and yes they were full. But after that there were one night few days later were I had an less full morning erection.
Penis is rubbery.
Morning woods, boners are not as strong as before and less frequent.

Mental:
Depression and anxiety attacks are long gone.

The sleep seem to had improved but my biggest mistake was that I had to sleep less about 4 days during a period. This seem to have affected me negatively so I know by now that regular and good sleep patterns are the most important. Some nights I wake up early and despite being tired I dont sleep until some time. Maybe I think too much.
I didnt fill in concentration, memory problems and dry eyes because they seem sleeping related. I always had these symptoms if I would sleep too little.

Physical:
Like mentioned earlier I havent masturbated, but I do check the sensitivity. It remains more or less the same at the moment.

Misc:
While posting this I went to bed about 1 and half hours earlier than previous days, it took time to sleep which I think is normal. I woke up maybe 4 hours later and tried to sleep again, which took some more time.
I feel that I dont get the deep sleep I want.

My actions to fight against it:

I take vitamin D
Daytime walks in sun (I really feel refreshed during and after it!)
Keep body warm, although I dont feel the need.
Eat lots of fruit and vegetable (Oranges, mandarins, bananas, raspberries, onion, avocado, radish leaves, almonds, apples, peaches and more)
Drink lots of water
Zinc (started taking again on 15 mg, 3 days ago)

No alcohol, no chocolate, no coffe.

I have few questions I really would like to get answered, please answer me!

I read zinc decrease dht, should I take more?
I read that Green tea decrease DHT, should I drink it or not?
Daytime and sunlight seems to make me happy, does it mean im vitamin D defficient?
Should I exercise or not?? (I rarely exercised before! last time I did was lighter exercise at home)
What can I do to improve my sleep?

My situation worsened now!!

I have nearly all previous side effects hit me again except for the anxiety attacks. I just feel somewhat depressed.
Red Dry eyes and nose, low saliva, insomnia, shrunk penis, thirst and more.

I made a light exercise maybe 3 days ago of just some warmup, 5 pushups and 5 reps.

No sleep, slight depression is the worst!!!

This might just have been my crash…

Im not going to suicide or so so if you see me posting here without an answer within 1 month you can be sure I died because of a weak body

It is very weird, please people give me an explanation or example of what I can do next.

During the first days of taking propecia I experienced swings in mental side effects.
Perhaps I didnt mention this earlier, but I could be having anxiety and depression for maybe 8 hours, then it would just disappear for say 6 hours and then again come back for 5 hours.

about 1 - 1.30 hour after eating fried egg with tomato and butter and pretty hot shower 30 mins before the meal, i felt mentally 95% good.

Experienced High blood pressure. Seems like garlic really balanced that.
It was very difficult for me to sleep tonight, I think I slept for about 3 hours but it wasnt deep sleep.
I had prostate pain or maybe pain in my intestines, 2 days in a row now when im in bed. Seems to subside when im awake.

Its been 1 month soon, please help me. Who could recover at this stage??

Experiencing any spontaneous libido/sexual urge feelings? My non medical input is if you are you may not be that bad off and your body many ‘right’ itself over time. No one knows, no MD can tell you for sure unfortunately. These are uncharted waters. I was seeing a highly regarded young endocrinologist, USC grad, he believe PFS exists unlike many MD’s and he kind of shugs and says “i don’t know” we could try this or that or… but it’s all guesses.

Yes I do experience that sometimes, but they are not that strong.
So many opinions, I really wish I could stay off this site but I feel that I am not educated enough to deal with all my problems. I decided to fight the side effects 1 by 1. To start with I would go with the depression, hopefully that will help my sleep. Im currently trying to go to bed at 23:00 PM.
I would be so happy only if the mental problems resolved, that way I can focus on my studies and hopefully during the weeks/months/years I would improve or recover sexually aswell.
The problem is that as soon as my anxiety or depression is on its worst level I just get back to this site and do researches.
There is a guy called Propeciashiz and I think that I have experienced very similar symptoms as him until now.

and by the way, when my stomach is empty I feel pretty good (ofc not as before the dose). I do feel hunger, but very low saliva

I try to eat as healthy as possible, but I cant always beacuse of my family serving food, they dont know what happend to me yet, but they sense there is something wrong with me.

By the way, I only took one-half a 1mg pill, one time. I have had some major improvements… and life is ok again.

I have improved alot for the moment, im talking about a 90% total recovery and 100% mental side effect recovery.

Okay, it has almost been 7 months now.

This is currently what im experiencing:

Sexual
[X] Loss of Libido / Sex Drive It variates at times, Sometimes I feel about 70 - 80% normal in this area and sometimes it feels very low.
[ ] Erectile Dysfunction I cannot claim I have this because I am able to perform at any time, it is just feels slightly weeker past 6 pm.

I had no ejaculations during this, as it is a side effect from the SSRI. When I quit it I had the Largest amount of semen I had in my whole life with good quality.

I had the most extreme panick attacks imaginable, death like depression/melancholy, dark vision, sometimes suicidal thoughts, lack of patience, Emotionally flat, Difficulty concentrating. These were 1000x worse than any symptom I ever had so im very glad these are gone now since december - january.

Head and bottom stays large, usually during a slight erect state such as during peeing. It gets wrinkled during pooing, why is that? could anyone answer this please? I can achieve full erection and completly get rid of the narrowing state.
Penis size is usually good. If I feel a bit anxious, worried, stressed it seems to be more pale and smaller, I asume this is normal. Towards the nights it is sometimes smaller.
[ ] Penis curvature / rotation on axis Only sometimes after only peeing it could lean more towards the right side, usually gets a little erect, however I cannot say this is a big issue. It might not even be related to propecia.
[ ] Testicular Pain

[X] Genital numbness / sensitivity decrease I have decreased sensitivity and not complete numbness. If I pull one hair string it could feel painful but not completly like before.
Also the head of the penis have decreased sensitivity.

My own misc: I rarely feel the so called scalp dht itch., this makes me a bit worried.

In my profile it written that I used propecia in April 2013. This is incorrect, I used it only once 23 september 2013.

At the moment, life is pretty good but I do have my up and downs. I just cannot understand how such a small dose could cause this. I had no benefits out of this. Just big waste of energy, pain and money.

I have done many changes to improve my condition.

Previously never exercised, I didnt exercise at all for maybe 4-5 years. After this incident I have been exercising alot.

Im eating as healthy as I can, lots of fruits and veggies, no fast food since the incident except for maybe once a month. No sodas, no coffe, no alcohol or extremly little (1 low alcohol beer a month, im talking 2% alcohol). Instead I drink water, green tea, juices, smoothies and herbal teas.
Completly erased any sugary or unhealthy food from my diet such as candy, cakes and chips

I havent been very strict with my sleep unfortunately.

I am currently using the following supplements:
Fish oil, curcumin, Magnesium, B vitamins, vitamin d3.
I also tried zinc 15 - 30 mg but it seems to make my condition worse.

Im going to a doctor tomorow to hopefully get some blood tests.

ok so I had some bloodtests now and this is the result

Iron = 9 [9-34] umol/L
Magnesium = 0.88 [0.70-0.95] mmol/L

Prolactin 8.0 = [2.0-12] ug/L

Testosterone = 23 [10-35] nmol/L
Testosterone (bioavailable) = 11 [2.8-21] nmol/L
Cortisol = 534 [(Reference Invervall) 240-730 nmol/L at 8 AM]
SHBG = 38 [10-57] nmol/L

Erc(B)-MCH = 27 [27-33] pg
Erc(B)-MCV = 80 [82-98] fL

I had very similar results 4 years ago on the last 2 so might aswell conclude there is nothing wrong there. I had 24 on Iron 4 years ago so I know I have to be supplementing with that. This might be why I feel worse on Zinc? (no expert here)

Can I please have a more expertise view on these blood tests? I know it is not much and doesnt give a very clear picture but it was all I could get out of my docs. I will try to get results on free testosterone in the near future.

I had taken more blood tests but they are not really related to my problems and were in good range.

Testosterone values seem to be quite alright. I expect them to be slightly higher due to the good amount of sleep and exercise that Ive been doing.

might add that I might be feeling tired becacuse of the low Iron result. will be supplementing with some good doses of Iron and let you all know how that goes.

Still have numbness? And sleep issues? Have you participated in the studies? We as many guys as possible to sign up. I still have problems yes but they come and go. Some days or weeks im better and some days im worse. It usually takes some time for me to sleep but once Im sleeping im doing it good.
Ive been a bit inconsistent with my sleep such as sleeping late, waking up late etc.
What improves sleep is exercise and a good diet.

I havent signed up for the studies yet but I will try to.

about 1-2 weeks ago I felt like almost completly healed. I cannot say exactly how because these problems goes up and down so much but my sexual function was next to perfect. The only issue I had was a decreased sensitivity on the penis. This great feeling lasted for almost 1 month or so but I am asuming that my problems worsened now for 3 reasons.

  1. I had a beer after almost 4 months of no drinking
  2. I ate some sweets and chocolate (sugary ones not pure)
  3. I used a ketoconazole shampoo for 5 days~, only because my other normal shampoo had ran out. I really didnt think it would worsen my condition, dumb me. Perhaps it has not and the reason is something else but whatever, from now on I wont use it.
