My protocol - a test case for all of us

Hi everyone,

I thought I’d post an update of what I’m doing to tackle PFS. I’ve really got my act and mental state together and I am fighting this with a structured regime that I’m committed too for 6 months minimum. I thought it would be helpful for everyone, and for my own motivation, to report my progress.

Basically, what I’ve done, after years of looking at posts on this board, is to take the consistent elements of the stories where people have improved or recovered, and combined them into a protocol. I have also had a lot of tests done to determine my own problems and, based on these and my symptoms, I feel sure that my biggest problems lie in an underactive thyroid, and in poor liver function. Here’s what I’m doing:

  • I’m following a strict ant-candida diet. And I mean strict; literally no sugar at all for 6 months and a diet consisting mainly of lightly steamed vegetables and occasionally some meat and fish. I also have eggs for breakfast. Most food is organic.
  • I’m combining this by taking anti-fungals and strong probiotics to kill the candida (if it exists, which I believe it does), and drinking kefir milk (a strong probiotic drink) in the morning and just before bed.

My rationale for this approach is that I have definitely developed digestive issues since taking finasteride, and I have always had certain symptoms of a yeast infection (e.g. rosacea, dandruff). Whether I am correct, and whether there is a definitive link between candida and PFS I do not know, but I feel certain that my gut is not healthy, and this is a good way of ensuring that it is.

In addition, I will be treating the only key problem that all my blood tests have thrown up, which is reduced T3 and T4, and high levels of Reverse T3. I’ll be doing this by following a bespoke minerals and vitamins programme based on the various levels of vitamins and minerals in my body, and by supplementing with thyroid hormones. Key supplements will include vitamin D3, selenium and iron. I have not yet phased these in, but will do so soon.

This is an holistic approach which encompasses a lot of what people have found helpful (supplementing to balance out mineral deficiencies, treating the thyroid, treating candida). Whether it will help I do not yet know, but I will update over the coming months to let you all know. I emphasise that this protocol is based on what has been proven to work for many people on this forum. I’m by no means suggesting that this could be a PFS cure, or that it is backed up by science. It does, however, address many of my symptoms, so I hope it will be in some way successful. Either way it might further inform what works and what doesn’t.

I will keep you all posted. Keep up the fight.

Good Luck!

Good luck. If you’re treating the thyroid you might want to look at the iodine supplementation thread before beginning thyroid supps.

“Digestive issues”, “candida” and “gut is not healthy”. Take a look at what Fin actually does and what the research has shown so far. You may have a change of opinion.

I agree on the fact that there might be some digestion issue involved. I’m noticing that my stomach is always full of air, I’m always burping and I am experiencing difficulties in digesting… I do not know if there is any correlation or not, but I suffer from rosacea (or better seborroyc dermathisis) and dandruff…let us know how you are progressing and good luck!

Like I said Boston, I’m treating my symptoms, seeing as we have no conclusions about the causes. No point sitting around waiting for science to provide the answer

This a really thoughtful approach. You mention “poor liver function”… how do you know this is the case? And more importantly… what part of your regimen addresses the liver? Just curious.

Thanks for sharing and good luck!

My albumin and bilirubin are high, which suggest that my liver is under stress. I also can’t help but think that the reasons why I have developed digestive problems must at least in part lie in the liver.

I now take digestive aids with each meal, and I hope my candida diet will reduce the strain on the liver

hahah that coming from someone that s been suffering for quite a long time…is sooo funny to hear!! hope to show you pictures of my amazing vacation…with great sex! i might even make a sex tape and post it here for you…how about that

brazilliandude I find the tone of your posts arrogant and mocking. Please refrain from posting in this manner.

If you feel 100% that’s great – there’s probably no reason for you to visit this site anymore and troll users. Wish you all the best.

i thought boston was very arrogant too? dont you agree/?

Hey Braziliandude,

I´m very very happy, that you are better. But think, how you fellt before, what would you think if someone write such things to you? I would love to recover like everbody here.
Please make for all of us a Protocol where you show what you all did to recover and how your recovery was. you may be help other people. Lets keep all the Theories aside and just look, what helps.

Can you please explain what Fin actually does when its causing changing stool color, constipation, and people’s metabolism as I’ve read across many different reports of side effects on this forum?

I’m extremely curious to hear your insight in this so I can understand why the above symptoms have nothing to do with digestive issues.

The symptoms of these ‘issues’ and the diagnosis of theses ‘issues’ is whatever any moron wants them to be at any given moment. Same for adrenal ‘issues’ and thyroid ‘issues’.

Its not a medical diagnosis. Its an idiots charter.

Its an excuse for you clowns to believing that you finally understand something. Or maybe its just an excuse to talk to someone? Either way, nobody with propecia side effects would ever waste their time with this rubbish unless they are incredibly gullible.

Dear oscar…go get a life seriously!! i am here…im an ex sufferer and im saying it has worked for me…isnt that enough?

From the pilot study in Italy we know that “something” is the matter with the AR signal. If the AR is effected then AR responsive genes are also effected. The database of AR responsive genes is pretty huge. One thousand seven-hundred and eighty five of them to be exact. This I guess is why we are shooting for a genetics testing to determine which genes are most prevalent and candidates to check for abherent expression. Of course we don’t all share the exact same gnome. Maybe this is what accounts for the variety of symptoms including digestive issues. It’s understandable to reach for easier answers that are simple to wrap your head around but it were as simple as leaky gut or w/e it would have been solved long ago.

I didn’t mean to be dismissive of OP and I hope his protocol gives him some releif of digestive symptoms.

I thought you recovered 45mins after autohemotherapy? This thread is about leaky gut/candida/undetectable thyroid issues/‘issues’/adrenal fatigue/mineral imbalances/etc…etc.

Personally I am outraged that anyone would associate my serious health problems with that shit.

We dont know that actually. Thats not what has been posted on this forum.

oscar, with all due respect, you may want to re read all the posts regarding the research

Oscar you re just a hater! just because some people are getting better it doesnt mean you need to be a bitter snarky ass to them!

A crucially important discovery has been announced and I missed it? Should be easy for you to post link then. Please do so asap.

Who? What? You have posted the most hateful spiteful stupid comments on this forum (viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3447&p=55224#p55224)

It is normal to feel outraged at anyone trying to associate this problem with alternative medical practices.
