My Propecia Gamble

Hi Guys

I’m looking to see if anybody has a similar story to me or want to correct any of my views.

I started taking propecia three years ago. Immediately noticed an increase in hair and my hair stopped being lost. I took all the hormone blood tests before and all were within range.
No initiall side effects, high sex drive and morning erections as normal.
1 year in my semen is just dribbles and water however erections are still there in the morning.
2 years in i’m taking Viagra for sex, semen still just water. I still get erections naturally sometimes in the morning sometimes in the middle of day, still have high sex drive but rely on Viagra for strong erections to penetrate.
I go for semen analysis and they tell me they cant even measure it because the qty is so slow.
I redo my hormone bloods which show that all my bloods are within normal range except a slightly raised LSH. ( I thought they would all be out?)
At two years I’m losing hair again and it starts thinning again and I didn’t know why but I kept taking it.
I then have two hair transplants around 2.5 years in and my hair looks amazing (front area only where it was lost prior to propecia),
I’m still taking propecia however the hair loss is accelerating where it wasn’t transplanted.
Three years in which is today i’m going to stop, my hair is thinning and my latest hormone bloods show all within range except a slightly raised LSH. If it was working then wouldn’t my other hormone’s be out of range?
The reason I’m stoping is because I don’t think its working like it did at the start yet i’m having the side effects of weak erections and no semen and you never know if your mood and fatty deposits is related or would have been there anyway. I also struggle to grow muscle.
So i’m going to stop for 6 months and see what happens, the thing is my hair has never been so good ( due to transplant) however if I stop and although I was thinning if it turns out the pill was still slowing it for me and it massively accelerates I’m about to undo all the good work over the last three years. I am gambling that the current thinning and the normal hormone bloods indicate propecia isn’t working for me anymore and by stopping nothing will change except a reversal of the side effects.
Anyway day one lets see what happens. Any views?

When you stop taking propecia is when the problems start. I would be very careful and go off of propecia slowly. If you are already having symptoms you could be a candidate for PFS. Stop worrying about your hair.

Thanks - I will take your advice

Tiecum is wrong. It doesn’t matter how you quit, you can’t gradually wear off this drug, it’s too powerful. 0.5mg of fin inhibits almost the same amount of DHT as a 5mg pill.

Problems and side effect can arise at any time. While you’re taking the drug and when you quit, it doesn’t matter. Side effects can also get better, worse, or stay the same no matter what route you take. For some people side effects get worse when they quit, for some they get better.

There’s no way of knowing.
