My hormone results

These are my latest hormone test results which I got drawn on 07/12/2006 from a private lab:

Testosterone 17.1 nmol/l (9.9 - 27.80)
LH 2.3 u/L (1.7 - 8.6)
FSH 2.4 u/L (1.5 - 12.4)
Prolactin 212 mIU/L (86 - 324)
Estradiol 81 pmol/l (44-146)
DHT 1.79 nmol/l (1.13 - 4.13)
SHBG 36 nmol/l (10 - 80)
Cortisol 550 nmol/l (171 - 536)
Free Androgen Index 47.5% (41 - 159)

There may or may not be some aspects here I should be worrying about. Any comments appreciated…

If anyone needs to convert units to interpret these, unc.edu/~rowlett/units/scale … _data.html
is pretty useful

I also attach a full list of all the testing I have had for the purposes of comparison.

Your numbers are almost identical to mine and ive been told by two separate doctors that i am hypogonadal and need to be on TRT. I take it the tamox didnt work? What are your free T numbers? Have you tried TRT yet?

Yes I looked at your numbers and they do look very similar. Personally I’ve never been told by any doc I’ve seen that I am hypogonadal. But then I haven’t really seen any docs who know much about hormones.

Tamox did and didn’t work. If you look at my spreadsheet of results it shows that my T was over 700 after Tamox treatment. But it didn’t do anything for my ED which leaves 3 possibilities. The treatment wasn’t for long enough, didn’t make my T sufficiently high or low isn’t the source of my ED. Not sure which is the answer but thinking about trying it again…

I’ve never had free T tested but my SHBG is pretty healthy so I guess free T might be ok. Also worth noting that my FAI is below 50% and this is regarded as a sign of hypogonadism or andropause by those that use this index.

You need to see an anti-aging doctor. Not and endocronologist. You need to see where your free T is at. SHBG being mid range doesnt mean your free T is ok and its the free T that matters. My SHBG is mid range yet my free T is way low. Go to a good anti-aging clinic. I dont know for sure obviously, but you sound hypogonadal to me. Most ex-fin users are hypogonadal.

How long were you on the tamox for?

Well I am pretty much done with tests and doctors now. Neither of these ever seems to come up with a conclusive answer however much I bother with them? How exactly are you meant to go about freeing up more T if low free T is indeed the problem?

I took tamox for about 6 weeks, doing a month at 40mg then tapering off.
