I just wanted to share my experience of a skin complaint recently, which can be a minefield for people here given the potential for side effects being triggered by treatments. My experience may not be the same as yours in any particular instance but this is what happened to me.
The skin on my neck became quite red and irritated a while back. I went to a pharmacy and asked for something to help. They gave me a cream called Eurax. I used this without problem but it didn’t help me.
I went back and was given something which had Ketoconazole in the ingredients list. This is something which many people here have had problems with so I didn’t use it.
I felt a bit trapped because my skin wasn’t getting better, but the treatment seemed to be too risky.
So, I left it, tried using lots of E45 cream and gradually it got worse.
After a while, things had got so bad my neck was constantly sore, oversensitive and itchy and the feeling was spreading onto my chest and shoulders, which were starting to get raised marks on them too.
I spoke to a friend who suggested I try coconut oil. In desperation, I gave it a go for 5 days or so. I liberally applied it repeatedly multiple times a day and unbelievably, it seems to have done the trick. Zero reaction from me, and much improved skin.
I just thought I’d share in case it might be useful to someone else here. Obviously, this is just my experience, I am making no guarantees and cannot possibly comment on how other individuals might react. But, my experience is that it worked well.
The product I bought came from superdrug in the UK, is their own brand, cost £3 for 125ml, which would comfortably last a week to apply to my neck shoulders and chest at least twice a day. It contains only:
Hydrogenated Coconut oil
Parfum
Coumarin
I hope that helps someone here.
