my blood tests

testosterone- 564.1 (280-800)

I was pleased to see this in range…but one thing that scared me was my FSH test

fsh- 1.3 (1.5-12.4)

its way below range… not sure what that means… my doctor didnt seemed alarmed by it though…seems very bad to me…any ideas? Also my prolactin was very very slightly out of range.

prolactin- 15.24 (4.04-15.20) thoughts?

My TSH was also way out of range

TSH-6.55 (0.27-4.20) Any thoughts on this? thyroid problem perhaps? hopefully?

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated… the only result i was pleased with was my testosterone… I guess that would indicate that my balls are still working properly…

You need a new doctor if hes not concerned with those numbers, you have gone haywire

well i"d like a little more imput as far as treatment I should be getting… what concerned him was my TSH level being so high…

been looking for an hour now and havent found one person who had FSH levels in the gutter and T levels in the mid to upper range like me… very weird to me…hopefully some of you can give me some insight because I really don’t have a good understanding of what to make of that low low fsh… scares the shit outta me…

no thoughts?

you are clearly hypothyroid.

“TSH > 1.0 may indicate the presence of hypothyroidism” from

definitivemind.com/forums/sh … .php?t=566

what do you think of my T? It seems in range and close to the upper 70% of the range…

its not bad.

work on that thyroid. test rt3 as well.

well the thing is, is that I must have mentioned it to my doc like 3 times over our meeting… told him to test it… he agreed… then after looking at the prescription paper where he wrote the tests he didn’t put it down… I’m thinking of just writing it down… hes got sloppy hand writing like me so… do you think I would get in trouble for that or something… I really dont care, and I know you all think its an important test bc of that ratio…

the only 3 tests he has is t3,t4, and tsh (again).

i wrote it on my last one and my doc didnt get mad, especially because it was out of range. but i dont know your doc, it might piss him off. i personally say do it, if it makes him mad then u can stop messing around with this doc and do what weve been IMing about

Alright I’m gonna do it… Cant hurt anything I guess… I’m also going to put LN on there as well… Because my FSH was so low, i’m assuming that LN will be the same… though prolactin was high… shit makes absolutely no sense to me. I still cant believe he wasn’t discouraged by that… That was the first thing that stuck out to me… I felt really sick to my stomach when he showed me the results.

LN? u mean LH?

yes, typo.

So, I just got a second round of blood tests for TFT. They were taken 9/13/2010.

tsh 4.95 (.27-4.20)
T4 free thyroxine 1.47 (.93-1.70)
Total T3 101 (80-200)

I’m very puzzled by the dramatic increase in TSH… I don’t see or understand how it can drop so much. My doctor did not either. He said I could have had a viral infection that caused by levels to rise. Sorry not buying it… if anyone has any incite plz let me know.

The only thing different about these 2 tests is that on the 2nd test, I had lifted weights the day before taking it. Whereas for the first test, I did not lift weights the day before i took the test. Also for the 4.95 reading, I went to bed at 1030-11pm… whereas the first reading I went to bed at maybe 12:30… Obviously I was feeling better on the day of the 2nd test… but I have no idea as to why the huge improvement? He recommended me to see an endo. Im still pissed he didn’t test Reverse t3. Anyways, your thoughts are appreciated… i’m kinda dumbfounded right now.

Toad,

Regarding your total T, you need to find out your SHBG level in order to calculate your free testosterone.

Regarding low FSH - that is clearly hypogonadal. Get inhibin B tested if you can as excess inhibin B can suppress FSH.

kazman

yea that is what I was afraid of, in regard to being hypo. Shit scares the hell out of me. What exactly is inhibit b? ive never heard of that before.

Kaz, do you think if I got my thryoid hormones in order that would fix my low fsh level? or does it not work like that.

Okay guys. Just got done with my appointment with Dr. Edelberg out of Chicago… He totally believes me about Propecia causing this to me. He says that I am CLEARLY hypo. We took about 12 vials of blood and I have a cortisol test im going to take on Sunday(24 hour). Hes testing just about everything. He based that i’m hypo off of my previous tests. Hes giving me Armour, i just filled the RX tonight, and i’m going to start taking it tomorrow morning. Im going to take it for a month and see how I feel… then were going to retest and reevaluate if things dont improve…

Good that he recognizes PFS. Does he speculate as to cause of PFS or suggest any treatments other than the Armour?

It shows that everybody on here needs comprehensive thyroid testing.

From reading TPA UK (like stop the thyroid madness) it is clear that self medicating is not a bad idea when it comes to thyroid. For those of you familiar with crisler’s forum, you should be able to find out where to get armour. Apparently having a tinker with armour can tell you a lot!
