MRI contrast agent - should I be careful?

Hi guys.

I want a brain MRI to make sure nothing abnormal is found in my brain.

The thing is, I will be given a contrast agent due to the scope of the scan and so I would like to know if there are any risks for PFS patients having this agent circulating in their body, since we react badly to some foods and substances.

The only thing I know is that my kidney function will be tested prior to taking the contrast agent.

Have any of you guys had MRIs with contrast agents?

Appreciate your thoughts and advice.

I had a few MRIs with contrast done. I didn’t have any problems with it.

Thanks a lot for answering.

Did you react adversely to certain foods/ substances at the time when you did

those MRIs? I mean not because of the contrast agent, but due to PFS.

Nothing beyond the usual - 5ar inhibitors and sugary/processed foods.

I was pretty fucked up from chemotherapy at the time, but I returned to baseline once I was done with all that.

Thanks a lot for your guidance.

And I sincerely hope you are getting better as each day goes by.

It’s been a long journey, but I’m learning new things as I go, and it’s good to know there are others out there to lean on for support!

Good luck with your scan (if you choose to do it)!

Had my MRI with contrast today. Seemingly, the contrast agent didn’t worsen my state.

Will have the answer of the scan by next week.

Which contrast did they administer to you?
@Capello

I’m asking to both of you as i will probably have to do somekind of “scan” (mri, pet, etc) pretty soon.

My understanding is you don’t actually need the contrast agent. It just makes it easier for them to read the scans but it’s not necessary. I would avoid it
