Motely Fool on Propecia: Parrots Old 'Less Than 2%' Line...

Keith Speights, a contributor with the popular finance blog The Motley Fool, posted this hair-loss story yesterday:

fool.com/investing/general/2 … dness.aspx

Note that in the Propecia section, he says:

“These good results make Propecia a good choice for many men who want to hold on to their hair. However, a small number (less than 2%) experience sexual side effects, including decreased libido.”

Please email Mr. Speights and let him know this is not accurate and that Propecia is far more dangerous that he is making it out to be here.

His email address is: kspeights@fool.com

We need to education these people so that they don’t continue to parrot Merck’s 15-year-old “less that 2%” propaganda.

Thanks.

Your website was in my bookmark section just a few years ago. I loved the insights you have about stocks, when the market is rising, falling , etc. You were one of the best.

However, I am extremely disappointed that you didn’t do due diligence when trumpeting Propecia in your hair loss article yesterday. I can speak for thousands of men when I say my life and my health have been permanently damaged by this drug. Not only that - but research is beginning at Harvard University to understand why Propecia is so dangerous. (pfsfoundation.org/news/clini … affiliate/)

The PFS Foundation (www.pfsfoundation.org) was set up last year to help all the victims of the drug. I found your article to be a slap in the face - and exactly what big pharma wants. Get the media to buy into their faulty research (only 2% experience side effects? And the side effects go away?) and then watch as more men take the drug and eventually get sick.

I guess I thought you were a good journalist - and that your website was reputable - but after that article yesterday I see that maybe I was wrong.

Sincerely -[/i]

Excellent, guys.

This is the kind of mobilization we need to let the media know we’re watching their finasteride coverage – and won’t be silent in the face of irresponsible reporting.

Every single voice counts.
