morning wood

i have been off since the start of january this year. unfortunately i seem no better now than when i came off, if anything i think i might be worse. i do however get some strong morning wood about 4 times a week, on other occasions this is quite soft. does anyone else experience this and if so is it a good sign. is there anything i should try to develop this morning wood into daytime wood, which is totally gone. also i have recently noticed that my semen is more watery than what it used to be, has this shit left us infertile? will it affect an unborn child even though we stopped taking this bullshit ages ago? also does minoxidil leave such side effects as i believe it too is a dht inhibitor, have such stories emerged from this drug? would anyone have suggestions on zinc and its effectiveness? i take multi vitamins which contain 7.5mg already, can i supplement this with more? should i get a testosterone check? how do i go about doing this? any advice is greatly received as im nearing breaking point because of this fucking mess!

Tell me this first, do you get/have prostatitis like symptoms?

I experience the same thing you describe with erections, so this is why I ask because I believe that it is when I am relaxed i.e. when I am lying down, in bed, whatever, I am ok again, but then once I am running around throughout the day, in action, my prostate starts to get inflamed again, and symtoms are worse.

Do you experience discomfort in the area between your legs, or any prostate symptoms, urinary, or aching or pain in dick ever?

James, please read the FAQ at the top of this forum if you haven’t already as it will answer some of your questions.

First things first – get bloodtests as outlined in the BloodTests section by going to your family doc, an endocrinologist or the lab itself (if you can just pay for tests). If you are concerned about fertility, also get a sperm test. From there you will be able to evaluate what your next steps should be.

There have been children conceived while on Finasteride without any ill effects so likely nothing to worry about from that perspective, particularly since you quit.

Minox is not a DHT inhibitor but it does have its own set of side effects including water retention, elevated heart rate, dizziness, headaches and possible tinnitus.

You can try supplementing with Zinc, up to 50mg a day but ensure you get at least 2mg copper with it… this may help with libido somewhat. Review the Naturals section of this forum as there some other things you can try as well to help stimulate things “down there”, such as L-Arginine.

But most of all, try not to panic as it is early days still… a lot can happen within a year.

Morning erections have absolutely nothing to do with being relaxed and in fact psychology plays no part in them at all.

like nocturnal erections they are governed by physiology and should occur in the setting of a correct hormonal balance as long as their is no structural damage to the penis.

A lack of morning erections where morning erection previously occurred prior to drug use point towards a hormonal, physiological cause.

I agree with Hypo totally…why is this so hard for people (even some doctors) to understand?? How the hell can you not have morning wood or nocturnals due to a psychological problem?..It is definately a hormonal problem. If its not hormonal, there is somthing wrong with your plumbing, but I highly doubt that.
