I am curious as to how many unique visitors the website is getting and how many users are active - or how many users have actually made 1 post or more.
It’s interesting that not many guys post a lot, I’m in the top 10!
It gives an impression that there aren’t many active users, which in turns gives our enemies on hairloss forums the chance to say it’s a small issue.
I would believe it myself if I hadn’t read the full members stories section and seen how many men have been really f’kd over by this for years yet have posted about 25 times or less.
I think everyone with PFS should be making a conscious attempt to sign in here regularly and keep abreast of the latest developments, and report back any improvements or otherwise, treatment outcomes etc.
I can undertstand if some just want to ‘get on with their lives’ without thinking about this painful and depressing reality, but if someone was dealt a life changing health problem ruining their sexuality and possibly their physical and mental functioning you’d think they’d be keeping in constant touch with the only repository for news of what’s happening about it.
FFS I’ve been on forums before and since PFS where guys are talking about a band or football team and making 20 posts a day. Our whole lives are at stake.
I would at least double the number of PFS sufferers to the number of people actually registered.
Btw, any hope of a cure? Any news? I know there is a lot of mystery/puzzle to this, but it can’t be impossible to reverse the side effects of this drug. If a drug did this to us, a drug (or something else) should undo it.
And I don’t mean cure like a life of steroids like some people have posted. Not to be rude, but thats not a valid cure.
India has had a large period of economic growth so I imagine there are a lot of younger men trying to save some hair there, a huge potential market for Merck. Pharma in general also outsources a lot of work to India. Could be a mix of the two.
What’s really sick with these companies is they do large scale trials in 3rd world countries before doing them in the west, the real drug testing grounds are scattered around the world in places they shouldn’t be, and it’s only after they do it there that they invest in the FDA approval trials in the US. There are fewer restrictions in these countries and the trials are much cheaper with little to no liability.
I would guess that this process also gives them a chance to know how to state their data in the most beneficial way.
I couldn’t agree more. Sometimes, when i check out threads and see the same names pop up i really don’t know how the hell i ended up in this seemingly tiny group.
An off topic point but it would be nice to have more of a community environment on here. Obviously we are all trying to get better, not make friends but some threads where people talk about normal stuff, maybe just about life and PFS without getting too depressing would be nice. There are guys on here that have seen the same usernames pop up for years and probably haven’t seen the face of that person, or ever really spoke to them properly.
I have added a couple of UK guys on facebook and it really has helped me to deal with this.
I guess there are many people who lurk around the forum. Take me for example, I was lurking around for a long time before becoming a member. For me one explanation is that I have never been a member of an internet forum. I don’t like internet forums. Furthermore, I wanted to keep away from the forum as it reminds me of my ordeal/miserable state. I thought that I will recover naturally by waiting long enough. This has not happened. I am a long-term sufferer and the only way to get out now is to play guinea pig with different treatments/medications.
