Metyrapone seems to significantly reduce cortisol levels. After reading some anecdotal accounts of high cortisol levels among PFS sufferers, there may be some benefit from using this drug. Not only that, but it seems to increase neurosteroid production: increase in acetylcholine brought on by this drug seems to have a positive correlation with increasing allopregnanalone and progesterone, although this was generally only pronounced in people with PTSD, and in healthy women. However, the shock and despair associated with the severity of the onslaught of PFS may qualify as traumatic and PTSD-like, making this potential drug worth looking into, in my opinion.

This also links in with the mifepristone treatment, both normalize hpa axis.
