Merck spunoff Organon & Co (Propecia/Proscar no longer owned by Merck!)

This news might be a little old (June 2021), but Merck no longer owns Propecia/Proscar. Interesting that they spun it off now: https://www.merck.com/news/merck-announces-completion-of-organon-co-spinoff/

Here’s the new firm that owns the rights (established in 2020, also strange): https://www.organon.com/

Patents already ran out mate. That’s why we have generics avaliable.

My apologies, it’s late, and I should have phrased myself better. My assumption is if anyone reports side effects to Merck, they will direct them there. Merck gave them the rights. I’ll read into it more later.

Check this out to see what I mean: https://www.organon.com/our-focus/products-list/#p

Propecia and Proscar are now part of the Organon catalog/portfolio, not Merck’s.

I’m curious if liabilities are also affected.

Ok. Did some more reading. Here is my concern: https://corpgov.law.harvard.edu/2020/11/27/environmental-spinoffs-the-attempt-to-dump-liability-through-spin-and-bankruptcy/

This is what I believe may be going on ^

Does this mean merck can no longer be sued when people get harmed by Propecia ?
