Merck Diabetes Drugs Linked to Pancreatitis Risk

Below from earlier today.

With all the harm Merck has done to the general public–to its very CUSTOMERS–I can’t fathom why federal agents don’t storm the company’s front doors and shut the whole dirty, unethical operation down…

Diabetes drugs sold by Merck & Co. (MRK) and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (BMY) may double a user’s risk of developing an inflammation of the pancreas linked to cancer and kidney failure, an analysis of insurance records shows. Patients hospitalized with pancreatitis were twice as likely to be taking Januvia, Merck’s top-selling drug, or using Bristol-Myers’s Byetta, than a control group of diabetics who didn’t have pancreatitis, according to the analysis today in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine. Both drugs increase GLP-1, a hormone that stimulates insulin production from the pancreas.

Do they have any medications that don’t fuck up their customers?

Apparently not. Hardly a day passes when at least one Merck product doesn’t prove pernicious to the public:

That’s why Kenneth C. Frazier was so hot on being seen in the White House “helping” President Obama avoid the now-proverbial fiscal cliff–he must, at all costs, balance his numerous public relations, legal and fiscal liabilities with as much positive press as possible.

But do not be fooled: KFC (sorry, Freudian slip) does not give a hoot about the health of any Merck customer.
