Marquisd - My results. Please comment.

Results received March 27 2009
I’m 29 years old.

Please comment on my results. Im still waiting on my DHT levels.
Can someone also comment on my bioavailable testosterone. I cant find any charts

on the net to see if im in the norm for my age. 29. My doctor says everything is

fine with these results. But he wants me to check my prolactine again in six

months to see if it goes up anymore. Its obviously through the roof.

Your Testosterone levels look low considering the ranges given.

Prolactin needs to be brought down.

Cortisol requires 24urine profile to asses complete picture.

I would second Mew’s comment about the high prolactin - a pituitary MRI is warrented to check for tumors, and a medication to lower prolactin is indicated.

If correcting the prolactin does not raise your FSH level (should be over 4) then a serum test for inhibin B is indicated (high inhibin levels supress FSH).

I noticed you always talk about inhibin levels,do you believe this is causing peoples sexual problems?

Bigmike,

There seem to be many post fin men that have low FSH levels (anything under 3 is cause for concern). Clomiphene, in a man with “normal” secondary hypogonadism, raises FSH quite a bit. Yet myself and several others here have shown only modest FSH improvements while on clomiphene. FSH directly controls sperm creation, and therefore may give insight into the ejaculatory disorders many of us face.

As inhibin goes up, FSH goes down, and vice versa. In my case Inhibin was over 3x normal levels. I think any post fin person who has shown to be low in FSH should get inhibin tested - like vit D and Adiol-G this may be a comon marker. And yes, while taking fin ones inhibin levels do rise, Mew posted an abstract about it.

It pisses me off that my doctor would say that everything is fine after seeing my results. What the hell good are doctors for if they cant even identify a problem in the test that they asked themselves to be done. I’m so pissed of right now.

I hope that Dr Irwig, finds a way to tell all the doctors that this Fin problem is real. Then we’ll finally be able to stop being ignored.

And how the hell am I supposed to sue Merk, if my doctor will just tell them that everything is fine. Even though the tests say otherwise. The doctors just see what they want to see.

Merk sent me a letter asking for my doctors name and number. My doctor will just say that everything is normal, like he told me. And Merk will try to convince my doctor further that fin is safe, so my doctor will be even less motivated to help me.

Im so frustrated right now.
This is bullshit.

And im sick of ecjaculating water. What the hell man.

My doctor didnt even want to test my estrogen.

I asked for a prescription to get adiol-g tested but instead he gave me a prescription to get 5ARII tested. Is this the same? The paper just says 5ARII. He didnt even know anything about Adiol-G.

He doesnt want me to see an endo till I get more tests done in 6 months from now. And he is only gonna test for prolactin he says, cuz everything else is fine he said.

I am in contact with my fathers lawyer though, I should hear back from him in a week or so. Hopefully the lawyer will more useful then the doctor. In the end, the doctor can be stupid but the numbers on the paper don’t lie. Sueing merk will most likely be impossible thought. Whatever.

Kazman,

Do you think that low FSH is what causes me to have watery ejaculate?

Kazman, What do you mean by this? And what kind of tumor are you talking about?

Marquisd,

The water ejaculate side went away for me. I would say, sometime after 5 months off of the pill. I also noticed you are unhappy with your doctor.

It’s not easy to find a good doctor that is open minded and willing to help try to find what is causing your problems. Find a new doctor and don’t just go to the first one you can find. Try to find an endocrinoligist that someone recommends to you. This is how I found mine. He believes that Propecia caused my problems. He has been helping me research to help get me better.

good luck, bostonusa

Thanks for the reply Bostonusa2009.

Unfortunately, I still have the watery ejaculate 2 years off the drug.

Im sure that someday, someone will figure something out on how to fix all of this.

Thanks again for the replies everybody.

Marquisd,

The Endocrine Society published a recent document online (sorry I do not have a link) that provides guidelines for diagnosing different forms of hypogonadism. Included are guidelines for LH and FSH levels. FSH is less pulsatile than LH so it is a better guide for pituitary function.

FSH is what signals the Seritoli cells in the gonads to make sperm (LH signals the Ledyig cells to make T). One would think that low FSH and watery ejaculate are therefore closely related.

My doctor had the tests redone. He says that they look great. He says my testosterone is fine. I told him it was low for my age but he asked me based on what.
I showed him the graphs from this site but he said that he did not know what they meant.
He also said that there is no sure way to know where the normals are for people of certain ages, because there is not enough studies done.

I told him that I thought my testosterone was low, and told him about the symptoms I fealt, hypogonadism symptoms, and he said he could prescribe androgel if I was that worried about it.

I don’t know if I should do this, because I don’t know if it will mess up my system even more.

Anyway, please let me know what you think about the new hormone test, and if you think androgel would help.

FSH 1 U/L < 18
LH 3 U/L < 9

TSH 2.7 mU/L 0.35 - 6.0

Cortisol 530 nmol/L 119-618

Prolactin 14 ug/L 2-18

Total Testosterone 15 nmol/L 10 - 30
SHBG 40 nmol/L 12 - 46

Bio. Testosterone(calculated) 6.0nmol/L 4.6 - 19.0
free Testosterone(calculated) 290 pmol/L 220-920

My tests where done very early in the morning.

He says my results look great. I showed him the the DR Alan Jacobs article and he wasnt convinced.

He says that my results show that I do not have hypogonadism and that I’m doing great.

I also told him that my FSH was low.

But he says it was great. He said that he only cares if it’s high or if its at 0.001.

He’s my doctor, should I listen to him?

Dr can not help you, if you push him He will put you on Adrogel which will further supress things. your TSH and prolactin r not right, Discuss these things with ur dr. treating Thyroid and prolactin may help.
are u taking D3? it D3 also helps alot.

You can get a phone consultation with dr jacobs - see a doc who takes us seriously. He could potentially order all the test you require. We, as a group, need to see a select few qualified professionals to figure this out and not waste time with unskilled endos and gp’s.

lol your doctor is a newbie…Is he this incompetent? Your TSH is borderline high normal, other issues could be present that he hasn’t tested for (thyroid panel with T4, T3, Reverse T3, etc… etc.) You could be hypothyroid, thus preventing your body from metabolizing efficiently.

Secondly, your free testosterone is pretty low. You should also get bioavailable testosterone done as well.

Your prolactin is borderline high as well.

You need a new doctor my friend. Maybe a low dose clomid would help kickstart your system along with thyroid meds. Get some more tests done, your doctor isn’t a real doctor. I recommend seeing someone like dr. jacob, dr shippen or dr crisler. These 3 men have the most experience. Good Luck!

Thanks for your feedback. I will take your feedback seriously.

I’m glad the prolactin has gone down. It was at 36 before.

anonnn1,

My bioavailable testosterone was done, I named it “bio. testosterone” for short. It’s at:

Bio. Testosterone(calculated) 6.0nmol/L 4.6 - 19.0

It’s gone down and seams very low. The doctor said it looked great.

golf17331, have some poeple done this? Is he willing to do that? I live in Canada. Do I just send him an e-mail with my results and an explanation?

from his site: neuroendocrinology.org/

By Phone. If you live further away, a phone consultation may work best.
Because neuroendocrinology is a highly specialized field with a limited number of practitioners, I have patients all across the country and in Europe who I treat by phone. Some conditions, such as catamenial epilepsy, do not require a physical exam and can be handled this way. Other conditions, such as thyroid issues, may require in-person attention. If I am treating you remotely, I can order lab tests to be conducted near where you live, forward on EEGs and test results, and phone or fax any prescriptions in.

My new endo said that my test results posted here are fine.

How is it possible that doctors suck that much?!?!?!?!?!?!?

did you sign class action lawsuit?
kazman adviced you to go for inhibin tested. did you do that? I think it is very important.
