You may have encountered this already but it is news for me and scares the shit out of me as I was estrogen dominant for years and my libido is next to nothing currently:
I’m not sure, but if you have too much estradiol, is there a way to diagnose that and correct it? What is your experience?
I don’t even know whether estradiol can cross the blood-brain barrier, but even if estradiol can’t, finasteride can and it can screw up your brain too.
My E2 is high since the beginning and its an endless war. I haven’t tried medications like aromatase inhibitors as they are hard to control and its hard to end up with zero estrogen that is also bad. For me the only effective thing was high dose HCG (3x5000IU with 7-10days delay). I know it sounds strange as basically all people end up with high T and high E2 after hcg shots (this is why bodybuilders take it with arimidex) but surprisingly for me it boosts T and E2 goes down below mid-range. Unfortunately after some time it starts to come back to the top range and maybe a bit above that. In my opinion controlling E2 is impossible. You have to treat the underlying condition for sure. Among other things 2 sessions of HCG shots have repaired my thyroid functions (one month I had hypothiroidism, the other month I had hyperthiroidism, and so on).
Another intersting thing is that both my PRL and E2 are high. If I push down both and then I take some PRL supressor (bromocryptine, quinagolide) then my E2 also stays mid-range.
Note that I’ve stopped quinagolide 1,5 month ago and 10 days ago both my PRL and E2 were 1,5 x top-range. I’m at day 10 of my 30 day water fast, I will be very curious about my day 30 blood test. I will lose about 15kg fat and a lot of other tissues/crap. Fasting said to have balancing effect in several ways including the endocrine system. Losing most of my fat can also help as this cuts off a lot of estrongen coming from aromatization but this may be only a part of my estrogen as there may be other sources to it. For example I have relative low dhea and that can also be a source of E.
Personally I’ve only had 3-4 hormones tested and I was told they were within “normal” range, but I’ve since discovered that the tests weren’t sufficient and their ranges are crude. I’m pushing for a full test so I can hopefully look at things like this too, although it looks very complicated
How’s your fast going?
