Lower Abdominal Pain, Diarrhea, Yellow Urine

Hi all,

I stopped taking Propecia after a little more than two years on the drug. The reason I quit was that I began to experience pain in my lower abdomen, frequent diarrhea, urgency to have a bowel movement, pain after a bowel movement in the abdomen and also my urine has been a very bright yellow. I have now been off the drug for about three months, and I have not seen any change in these symptoms.

I was referred to a gastroenterologist, who performed both a colonoscopy and a abdominal ultrasound, both of which looked fine. I am now on a very strict diet (no sugar, no yeast, no gluten, no alcohol, no caffeine) pretty much just brown rice, veggies, meat and water. After two weeks, again, no change in symptoms. I have only had water to drink for almost a month and my urine is still a vibrant yellow.

I am just wondering if anyone has experienced this set of side effects and what else I could do about it. I have not had any of my hormone levels checked and am not sure if that might shed any light on any of this.

Many thanks in advance for any and all help.

Get your hormones checked per list in FAQ, and get your liver and kidneys examined.

are you taking any vitamin tablets or pills especially multivitamins?
these can cause yellow urine as the vitamins go straight through your body most the time

Thanks for the quick replies.

I will try to get my hormones check ASAP. As for the liver/kidneys, are there specific tests I need? They did get a look at both organs through the abdominal ultrasound, and said everything looked good.

I have been taking a probiotic supplement and digestive enzymes for the past couple weeks, but the darker, yellow urine started much earlier than my supplement usage.

Thanks again.
