What does a low DHEA mean to the adrenal? Does it mean the adrenals are underperforming or overworking? What other aspects of one’s health does this affect?
It can mean your cortisol is high and therefor your adrenals are shot. Do a salivory cortisol test to see where its at. Blood tests are not very telling for cortisol.
How is your SHBG? DHEA has SHBG lowering effects. To what degree I dont know.
My SHGB was low in my second to last blood test (posted). My thyroid is low-normal. I’ve been lifting for about 3-4 weeks and cannot gain muscle bulk. This was always easy for me as my wife points out. And I just lost another pound. My fat index is the same.
This brings up another point. It is a good idea to get an analysis of ones body composition to see if your losing muscle mass over time. For you younger guys this can add some scientific proof to the effects of propecia. Also doctors will recognize this more and more once enough people make doctor visits complaining of propecia. It needs to reach critical mass. Anyone old enough here to remember fibromyalgia. At first those patients were considered whinners and now it's a recognizable disease.
I just talked to my GP who ordered the blood test. Seems he’s not too concerned about a low dhea. Because of my weight loss, he was more concerned with a high dhea to explain the weight loss. As you can see from my blood test I have a pretty out of norm dhea. Anyone else out there with a low dhea and their experiences.
