London Doctors

Guys,

Could you please recommend good doctors in London? I would need:

  • A psychologist and a psychiatrist
  • A endocrinologist / neuro-endocrinologist
  • A urologist
  • A sexual psychologist

All with experience with PFS patients. The people I’ve seen so far have been of limited help given their lack of experience with / knowledge of the issue. Most don’t even believe it exists.

The only helpful one so far has been Professor Bouloux. Any thoughts on him from long-term patients would also be much appreciated.

Thank you!

Bouloux turned out ok? give more details please, because he sounded like a nightmare to me.

You aren’t in very good luck mate, you certainly won’t be finding a ‘PFS specialist’ at all. The best thing you can do is find an understanding doctor that is reputable for sexual issues/ thyroid disorders/ hormone tweeking - you get the jist. Unfortunately for us guys in the UK any doctor that steps out of the bound of the NHS get witch hunted as seen with the following doctors:

Dr Myhill - drmyhill.co.uk/ (check the section to the right, she is being treated incredibly unfair because of giving a B12 injection!!)

Dr Gordon Skinner - tpa-uk.org.uk/drskinner_comments.php (one of the best thyroid docs in the UK - had an immense reputation and very satisfied patients from all over the place, GMC ruining his career too)

Dr Peatfield - tpa-uk.org.uk/drpeatfield_clinics.php (now a nutritionist because of the GMC, known worldwide for thyroid and adrenal treatments - has been a major force in getting proper thyroid info and care out to people in the UK)

I am not saying these doctors would cure anyone, but they are two of the best I have came across when it comes to hormones and coincidentally they are both having there careers ruined by the NHS.

I am as keen as you are to find a good doctor in the UK, ideally close to London. So PM me if you want to exchange any ideas.

^Ignore this person, in my opinion he is just an oddball that frequents this website for no good reason - DO NOT reveal any personal details to him. Do not see those Doctors either, all have had their medical licences suspended. A bit of a joke prehaps from someone with NO understanding of the misery of this condition.

Good list of eminent doctors;

Prof. Ashley B. Grossman BA BSc MD FRCP FMedSci
Professor of Neuroendocrinology and President of the European Neuroendocrine Association
londonendocrinecentre.co.uk/agbio.php

He is effectivley the most senior endocrinologist in the UK, however he isnt actually any good.

Professor T. Hugh Jones BSc(Hons), MD, FRCP (London)
Hon. Professor of Andrology and Consultant Physician & Endocrinologist
shef.ac.uk/medicine/staff/jones.html

He is effectivley the world expert on hypogonadism. But lives in Barnsley.

Some good doctors advised there by Oscar, but unfortunately he has an unstable mind and actually just needs mental help. So I wouldn’t pay much attention to him. Check his posts on the forum to see how deluded he is with his theories LOL.

Joe-91, I take a dim view of people who accuse others of mental illness as if that’s acceptable and something to be laughed at, or used to attempt to score cheap points in the absence of any decent argument put forward. Bear in mind many men here suffer depression as a consequence of post finasteride syndrome. Which you don’t have to any reasonable degree anyway, making you something of an oddball for constantly posting here (there, and everywhere…).

Coming back to the main issue, you do make a good point for once. The uk is in the dark ages when it comes to treating hormone problems, let alone one as complex as this. There are no anti-aging doctors to speak of, no means of getting comprehensive bloodwork and the Harley Street quacks are barely any wiser than NHS consultants in dealing with TRT, and charge ridiculously given this. The docs you mentioned, particularly Peatfield and Skinnner, are respected worldwide in treating adrenal and thyroid problems and have been struck off for going against the received wisdom about how to help patients suffering from these disorders.

Its difficult to say severity of PFS just from posts here. Especially since Fin effects all of us differently. I’d say if you have the ability and desire to have sex you’re probably doing alot better than most of us, at least sexually.

I think we all have to give Oscar, 19 and Mario (sorry if I left anyone out) props for searching the literature and attempting to come up with theories. It doesn’t go unnoticed. During my last convesation with Dr. Shippen he said he was greatly impressed by the level of discussion on alot of the threads here.

Could anybody please urgently recommend doctors in London and/or in New York that have extensive experience with PFS? I would need each of the following:

  • Endocrinologist / neuro-endocrinologist
  • Psychiatrist
  • Psychologist - the guy would ideally be: sharp, fast thinker, intellectually curious, perceptive, have a great level of empathy, open-minded / not dogmatic, not some sort of a weirdo, and needs to have experience with PFS patients
  • Urologist

Thank you so much in advance,

London007

New York:

Dr. Alan Jacobs.
neuroendocrinology.org

He has written extensively on PFS and is treating many sufferers.

Thank you guys! You are awesome. And thank you to Mew for maintaining this site! Without this, I would go mad not knowing what’s going on with me.

Does anybody know good psychologists who have experience with PFS patients? I need one urgently. I’m deeply depressed (never been depressed before) with a high level of anxiety and insomnia, and need help.

Thanks again,

London007

In London I would recommend Dr. Bouloux. He seems to have treated dozens of patients and he is quite sympathetic to what is happening to us. In addition, he is trying to research about pfs and, as he said, he is determined to go to the bottom of the matter.

Hey guys,
I know it’s been a while since this was asked and I noticed that Dr. Bouloux is not recommended by some of you.

Do you have any other names in London that know this situation and have some patients with these symptoms (other than me)?

Thank you guys!
