Liver function and libido

This week i had to start taking Omeprazole 20mg daily, due to acid reflux disease (which i also never had prior to propecia). Turns out my libido improved a lot, which makes me wonder how much the liver is involved in our problem. Omeprazole is metabolized by cytochrome 450 in the liver (the same pattern Finasteride takes to be metabolized, if i am not wrong). Another possibility is that the improvement in libido happened because my metabolism got a boost because of the acid reflux disease itself, trying to heal it. So anyways, i thought i’d add this information to the forum, more data about this awful syndrome.

well, adiol-g is primarily made in the liver. did you get your adiol-g levels tested before and after taking this?

Adiolg? sorry not trying to hijack the thread but what we can do if support adio-g is low for all of us. Is there any treatment there?

i think you are missing the context of my comment. I am saying, out of curiosity, if adiol-g was altered at all by his new medication. We do not know of any other things that really alter adiol-g except for supraphysiological doses of test in some men as well as cyclosporin - as listed in other sections of the site.

Just an update:
I think the improvement in libido was due to the body trying to heal, and not the medication. I am still taking omeprazole and libido has gone down again.

Many people that had any sort of “major event” going on in their liver, experienced a temporary surge of libido. For example, Mew had a surge of libido when he was vomiting bile for some illness. This is probably due to a sudden change in the metabolism of E2 and SHBG, which returned to the “post-fin-homeostasis” very quickly.

I had this too. I think the liver is over-metabolizing something we need to feel healthy too.
