Reading the posts on this site, I’ve found scattered anecdotes about helping to minimize the effects of a crash, but haven’t seen those ideas appear in one place. If members liked the idea, I thought we might create a list of things that could help with a crash before or after quitting Propecia. It could be an active and edited list based on entirely members’ feedback.
Of course, the caveat would be that these steps are anecdotal and do not in any way constitute medical advice, nor should anyone follow them without consulting a doctor.
So far, I’ve gleaned from other members that one should:
When quitting Propecia, try to taper off rather than stop cold – not because we know that tapering off helps, but because logic seems to indicate it couldn’t hurt.
Not use alcohol while stopping and after, and to try not to use caffeine.
One member has suggested that a person who is trying to minimize a crash should take iosol iodine and lugol’s iodine and take both in combination.
He also suggested that people use “co factors”: Zinc, copper, magnesium, vitamin C and selenium.
Members seem to recommended 50 mg of zinc daily.
Exercise seems also to be recommended.
Let me know what you think.
