Since Finasteride inhibits 5AR which reduces DHT levels causing the prostrate to shrink. For people who have been taking fin for a long time for them their T levels shot up high and eventually led to an HPTA shut down. These guys can recover by boosting T and inhibiting E. This theory has also been supported by Dr. Jacobs post and some people like scaredinMD have also recovered using this who took fin for 5 months.

But for people who took fin for a shorter term still experience the same effects. For a short term fin treatment the prostate may not have shrunk much. Now as the body is depleted of DHT, when you stop fin the DHT levels start returning to normal (just a hypothesis). This lead to a short term rise in libido… for a week or so after quitting… quite a few people have experienced this. But the DHT hungry prostate, becomes more sensitive to DHT… slowly leading to enlargement/inflammation. People like egy_chams and italy side effect have experienced an ‘obstrution’/‘clogging’ feeling in the pubic region. i feel the same and that is why most people might be having normal blood test results.

Ciproflaxin worked for egy_chams which is used for prostatitis treatment. he had a cloggin like feeling.

cytochrome used quercetin which decreases the size of the prostrate. cdnuts felt better on it as well. refer to the studies in this post. solonjk’s post on Jan’31 also says that he feels decreased blood flow and “obstruction” to the structures around.

Testicular Shrinkage / Loss of Fullness… shut down due to elevated T during fin treatment. shut continues post stoppage.

Increase in urinary frequency: symptom of BPH/prostatitis

BPH also leads to erectile dysfunction; however modern medicine is still unable to understand why. Those affected with BPH tend to have low libidos, and erectile dysfunction.

The issue of affecting libido is somewhat similar. The prostate gland is like a switching valve. It switches between allowing urine to pass through to that part of the urethra on the distal side of the prostate, or allowing semen to pass through. The male sperm duct passes through the prostate gland, just like the male urethra; but also attached are the male seminal vesicles. These are one or two sacs that add fluid to the sperm to form semen. The prostate gland adds the secretions from the seminal vesicles, to the sperm, and then directs the semen flow out the male urethra. Restricted passages through the prostate gland make this a difficult task, and thus, male libido can and usually is affected to some degree.

Another interesting thread that I found was that of the ball zingers ring/blackoe ring. according to the post it seemed to work for everone. The reason for that being that when the ring surronds your package… small amounts of electrical currents are generated which relaxes the prostrate as it is very close to that region. Think about how muscle contraction occurs in the body. Its by electrical stimulation of the cells which produces contractions of the muscle. search action potentials, EMG, ECG on wikipedia. OUr ecgs in the heart are generated by electric signals which lead to contraction of the heart muscle.

viagra does increase blood flow to the penis but does not relax the prostate. hence no libido boost is accompanied. moreover BPH and prostatitis can be asymptomatic in terms of pain…

so from all this it seems that relaxing the prostate muscles should work. drugs like terazosin etc which relax the muscles of the prostrate along with increasing blood flow may work, but I have read mixed reviews about them in terms of they also causing impotense and lowered libido. chk reviews on drugs.com and rxlist.com or whatever that site is.

so its kinda ironic as in we may be thinking that finasteride may have shrunken the prostate or something but ultimately with a short course on fin, it may have actually caused elargement/inflammation. we may have considered prostatitis as an issue but it could be the root cause of the problem.

There may be many ifs and buts to this theory but it still needs to be considered when though its out of the box.

Case showing symptoms similar to us…

Overnight, I began to experience an extreme discomfort during ejaculation.

I think focussing more on prostatis is more important than hormones… I would probably be getting doxycycline and trimethoprim by next week… dont want to try ciprofloxin looking at the permenant damage it can cause.

Kreator: I think this theory has some weight, especially for the short term users like myself. I had an elevated white blood cell count after fin - indicating an infection, but no signs of an infection - could indicate prostatis. by no signs of infection… can you clarify. Doesnt the presence of bacteria/WBC confirm sort of an infection or inflammation? Use of steroids such as dexamethasone can decrease production of remaining testosterone by the adrenal glands.

So ihatepropecia took dexamethosone which lowers T and still felt better.

I have order a stock of meds for prostatitis. including alfuzosin, terazosin, tamulosin (these are alpha blockers which provide temp relief) Ill see if they make any improvements by trying it for 3days after i get it delivered. i dont want to try it longer as it also causes retrograde ejacutlation. I have also ordered trimethoprim and doxycycline which are antibiotics. I dont want to try ciproflaxin or levoflax due to their potential for permenant damage. (chk wikipedia). ill go on doxy after the three days of alpha blockers. the effect of the alpha blockers is kinda just to see if my theory is correct. Have to be the ginuea pig

I talked to a guy on here who got his prostatis tested via the Chinese method listed on that site and he got 60 percent of his libido back

I have low libido, lack of sensation of pleasure, pleasureless orgasm, ED, watery semen, I kinda also get this frequent need to urinate and a feeling like some kind of obstruction in the pubic region

boston tried valium and it worked. valium is diazepam/ benzodiazepines a sleep inducer also used for the management of prostatitis.

The only missing link here is why DHT helped a few among us, but despite that I think we have strong evidence to support this theory.

Another thing I found out about the ball zinger (link for the post above) is that mechanism in the way in which it works. It produces a potential between the copper and zinc rods electrodes. The production of sweat is necessary because it completes the circuit from copper on one side to zinc on the other back to copper. If the device is too loose, lack of proper contact (and maybe lack of generation of sweat) breaks the circuit preventing the flow of current. If too tight, it might cause obstruction to blood flow. The prostate forms a part of the circuit (refer to the anatomy of the body, the prostate is exactly between that area), and stimulating the prostate gland with currents causes the smooth muscles of the prostate to relax thereby relieving symptoms of prostatitis.

Many are aware of this book. It is the one which is recommended on many prostatitis forums and has helped a lot of patients with chronic prostatitis/ chronic pelvic pain syndrome who have not been helped by antibiotics.

This is one of the cases in which the doctor identifies a serious issue being passed on as “Its all in the head”

There is only one KNOWN condition that we can all relate to… and that is prostatitis. It is a disease very poorly understood, difficult to diagnose and difficult to treat. Everyone’s tried hormones here, but it has barely helped. Prostatitis is the real deal people. If you look at the links above, the symptoms are exactly the same as the one we are suffering from. people have at felt better on prostatitis medications.

So if a big prostate would be the cause of many here, than using finasteride again would relieve some of the symptoms. Since finasteride inhibits DHT so the prostate would shrink…
