This is all BRAND NEW to me, so please forgive my lack of medical knowlege and terms? (I am so happy to find this site, btw) If a guy just stopped taking Finasteride and still has it in his system, it seems to me that there should be something he can do to try and prevent any more DHT from being inhibited? Even if for a few days?? He only took the drug for a couple of weeks.
Short of other drugs? No.
Likely wIthin 2 weeks DHT should be flooding back into your system, so watch for the changes. Hopefully there won’t be any issues.
Too late. He is experiencing many issues including loss of libido, ED, loss of sensation (except for pain), etc. Have you heard of Dr. Crisler in Michigan? What is your impression, are there success stories?
There are so many horrifying anectdotes, we are searching for a ray of hope. He stopped taking less than a week ago, but the symptoms came on so fast and so severely…waiting another week to see improvement is very difficult. He would like to be proactive and see a Dr. immediately.
Yes, idk, in my opinion I would try a Post Cycle Therapy (PCT). Go over to the Meso Rx Health Board and EVERYONE is talking about PCT.
Us post-finasteride sufferer’s symptoms compare to a lot of Steroid users symptoms, i.e. Low Testosterone, and often called hypogonadism!!
I know its tough to stomach, but I am just starting to come to terms.
A lot of people on here hope to recover naturally over time, but at a mild mild dose I now (two months after quiting Propecia, after taking it for only three weeks) wish I had taken some sort of PCT treatments in mild mild doses right afterwards.
Idk, I think its worth a try.
They do say make sure to get comprehensive blood work done prior to starting anything however, so this will be your first step.
But where are you located anyway?
I have only heard of a few good doctors “forward thinking endocrinologists” who use “jumpstarting” protocols using drugs such as HCG, Clomid, nolva, and arimidex…
But this shouldn’t be done without careful consideration, the right routine, and proper blood work done first.
But get on it right away if he doesn’t see drastic improvements 2-3 weeks after stopping, I think.
Just my two cents!
I am looking now myself for some good HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) from a good endo, but don’t know where to go yet as I am in Boston.
Good luck!
Well… spend a few hours reading through this forum and you will likely
find the answers to your questions… there are a few, but for some of us it is a slow process, and some guys aren’t so lucky.
Not everyone returns to how they used to be after they took this drug, although there things one can try such as natural supplements and further hormonal therapy to try and correct the issues, under the advisory of a competent Endocrinologist or doctor. Have you read through the FAQs at the top of this forum? Best to do so.
As for the person you are posting about – It is early days yet, most guys recover within a few weeks to a few months so no need to panic yet. But Dr Crisler is one doctor who does have experience treating men with post-Finasteride issues.
Also I’m not sure I understand your relationship to this other person… are you their mother, wife, girlfriend…? Why are you posting on their behalf and they not on their own? Just curious!
They really should get bloodtests as outlined in the Bloodtests section to see what is going on with their hormones at this stage, that is the absolute FIRST STEP. With results in hand, from there you can evaluate what to do next.
She was posting on my behalf. I had created a new account, but never received a verification email so my account could not be activated. I tried to send an email to an admin, but I was required to log in which I couldn’t do.
I finally created another ID and this time I received a verification email…so I’m good to go.
Thank you very much for your response. I really appreciate everyone sharing their information and suggestions.
