Just asking about the Germanwings suicide pilot...

I agree, the condition, especially the crash can be very, very intense for some people. It was for me.

If you don’t like the thread, do not read it. It is a fact that finasteride causes major mental problems, so there is nothing wrong in speculating whether finasteride plays a part in accidents.

Well now its been confirmed he was depressed and was having relationship problems… both Hallmarks of PFS… maybe there is some water to this idea, so don’t be so quick to dismiss it.

Before I have even seen a picture of the copilot, I was imagining that he could have been a PFS victim. Now I have seen the picture of him, and well he has less hair than me…

Soon after my crash I was in the same mood. I tried several times to kill myself, and would I have been in the situation as this guy - at that time - I would have done the same. After my crash - somebody would have given me a H-bomb - humanity would be over, done!

So, it is not impossible that Lubitz was on Fin or a PFS guy, but there is no proof. But imagine if it would be true and the media got to know this - DOWN WITH MERCK!

It’s sad but if finasteride was involved, this would bring immense attention to the problem of PFS. And I am sure we will find out soon.

Unfortunately, Lubitz does sound like scores of other PFS cases, particularly the passage in today’s Daily News (below) about him planning to marry next year:

Former classmates also said the 27-year-old co-pilot stopped training because he was depressed in 2009. He suffered from “burnout syndrome” or “depression,” they told Der Spiegel journalist Mattias Gebauer.

Carsten Spohr, CEO of Germanwings’ parent company Lufthansa, told reporters Lubitz took a “several-month gap” six years ago, but declined to say why.

He came back and passed all his tests, including psychological and medical exams, Spohr said.

He showed no signs of bipolar disorder, substance abuse, personality disorder or other conditions, according to The Aviation Business Gazette.

“He was 100 percent fit to fly without any restrictions,” Spohr said. “His flight performance was perfect. There was nothing to worry about.”

A friend said he had so much to live for – he planned to marry next year, Dutch journalist Victor Schildkamp reported.

“Why would a man of 28 with a good job, girlfriend and good life commit suicide? That can not be,” a neighbor said.

But at some point, investigators said Thursday, he became intent on ending his life.

pvdl makes a great show of learning , there were people who killed their victims for far less than a drug that alters your neuro-chemistry(which is likely ) without being a socio-path like you said . think about people who got indoctrinated by their religion like recently where a woman was stoned to death because she burned the qur’an . people can always justify their deeds to themselves, and can therefore become murderer without even having the typical indications of a psychopath. this was my main point in my previous post by the way . And this was not related to our issue. it is a general assertion. the only indication that lubitz(the co-pilot) was a psychopath is , that his breath remained calm even seconds before the crash. Believe it or not there is no Hope for the human race and without laws we would be the same midaevel human creature who tortures , fights and kills . And even this Forum reflects some behaviours of it . With the wild card of anonymity our behaviour is far too often less social than we act in reality .

When i saw the picture of him, i also wondered if he was on finasteride. The fact is finasteride may lead someone to his edge in terms of violence, agressiviness and a lot of extreme behaviors. We all have different tendencies, so we all have may have different outcomes in terms of behavior while in the crash. In my worst moment, when i was crashing, i was very agressive and i kicked my own mother out of the house yelling at her and being very agressive. Thank God she knew i was sick and she believed my pfs. Looking from todays perspective, i can not believe i did that. I was always known as a very calm person. The fact that many of us had the same thought about this pilot, is an indication that this thread is not as absurd as some are arguing. If he was on finasteride and did this, it just means his extreme behaviors are much worse than ours, but we all know how this drug can push someone over the edge.

Well put. If Lubitz was on finasteride, that alone could have changed his personality – at least for some short period of time – to the point where he was thinking screw the whole world, I can’t believe what has happened to me. But if he never taken finasteride, he may never have had such a moment during which he acted on such frustrations.

In any case, I think we’ll know more about the nature of his depression within a few days.

I just hope that if he was on finasteride 6 years ago – i.e., has been off if for 6 years – the authorities look at his prescription records from that timeframe. It might well be that no one back then knew to even make the connection to finasteride.

Now we have board certified psychologists on this site determining that any propecia related depression and depersonalization cannot possibly lead to suicide or suicide on such s large scale. I love this site, it gets better every year.

This guy was not crashing, he had mental problems during his training as a pilot. So if its finasteride, he would have committed a mass murder a long time after his initial crash, as his mental problems occured a long time before already.

I dont buy this theory, that a normal person committs mass murder. Also pls stop talking about suicide in this case. Its not a plain suicide, its mass murder.

All of you guys saying I would have done the same are off your rockers. You obviously DIDNT do the same, and wouldnt have, as it takes a psychopath to commit such attrocities. So unless you want to out yourself as one, dont just claim stuff.

I think authorities should investigate if he was taking any medications (finasteride, ssri etc.). We all know how badly finasteride can destroy someones mind.

I think it would be dismissive for them to not investigate this area. There have been reports he was “depressed”, so perhaps the authorities will check out his medical and prescription records as to leave no stone unturned in finding his motive.

i heard on the bbc today he had been attending a clinic lately for ivestigative tests for some illness he has???

What’s also odd (in a sad way) about this is that – yes, apart from the fact that he brought 149 people down with him – he fits the emerging profile of at least two finasteride suicides we know of:

-John Pfaff: legacy.com/obituaries/baltim … =163925706

-Daniel Stewart: pfsfoundation.org/wp-content … -times.png

That is to say:

-Nice looking men
-From good families
-Who are (or at least were pre-finasteride) well-educated overachievers
-Who gained success in their respective fields
-And had everything to live for

He fits the profile, except that he was a psychopath and Mr. Stewart wasnt. But other than that, very similar cases. Ohh I forgot, Stewart didnt kill 149 innocent people. But other than that, very similar circumstances.

Come one, how can you built a profile of a guy you dont even know. Insanity.

Considering phycosis is a listed side of accutane, there is easily the possibility of a medication link here.

Police do that all the time.

We’re all just speculating here. That’s what forums are more: a free and open discussion.

The bigger issue, as I originally said, is that authorities should know to at least have the finasteride question on their list in such cases.
