Although I think it’s possible to have a nuanced public discussion about the risks of pharmaceuticals and how we manage them in general, I don’t believe bandwagoning anti-vaccine sentiment on Twitter is going to get us there.
Finasteride is the perfect drug for anyone critical of the current pharma regime: it’s taken electively by a small subset of the population for conditions that barely impact quality of life. Many people will be receptive to arguments concerning the safety evaluation of such a drug. The same people will reasonably hesitate to hear similar arguments about vaccines, which are necessarily consumed by broad swaths of the population, to prevent conditions that can maim or kill.
