i've stopped a week ago. it seems better somehow but...

Hi to everybody, this is my first post here. I started taking finasteride on the 7 of January 2009. I almost immediately noticed the famous sex sides. I could get aroused when i’m in bed with the girl, but it was almost impossible to keep the erection. So, because those sympthoms didn’t go away, after a month and some days, on the 16 of February i stopped with that. So, today it’s a week i’m off from Finasteride. Things are becoming better, when i’m alone in the morning i can get strong erections, but with the girl still i have difficulties maintaining it. Also, i still don’t have morning erections which i used to have very often before taking fina. My question is simple: since i took fina only for a month and some days, i should be quite confident that everything is going to solve in a couple of weeks or so right? Are there cases of people who took fina for a month or so and then had troubles removing the sides? Thank you. Here’s my story:

  11. What dose did you take (eg. 1 mg/day, 1 mg every other day etc.)? 1 mg a day

  12. How long into your use of Finasteride did you notice the onset of side effects? noticed them immediately after taking it, i kept on going for a month. Since they didn’t disappear at all, i simply quit.

  4. Tell us your story, in your own words, about your Finasteride usage and side effects experienced while on/off the drug.

I started taking propecia on 7 January 2009, because of the hair loss. I almost immediately noted the side effects. I have a girl since 1 year and some months, and i never ever had a problem
with her. Since January i failed almost always…so, because the sides didn’t go away after a month of taking propecia, i stopped with that. It’s a week now that i’m off, this seems to be a little better but
i still don’t have morning erections which i used to have very usually.

Most likely things should get better in the coming weeks. If you haven’t read the FAQ at top of site already, please do. If you find things get worse with time, get bloodtests as listed to see what’s going on in your body.

Length of time of Finasteride use seems to have little effect on wether some people get problems from the drug, some people take it for short periods and others long, and can end up with same issues. So, it seems there is a certain population of men that are simply very sensitive to the drug’s effects.

hell…i can say that since 2 days the warrior is definitely back. nice ;D

what the hell…after i stopped propecia it took 1 week - 10 days to get it back to normal. I got morning erections back and was able to have sex with my girlfriend a couple of time. now, 20 days after i stopped propecia…it’s not working again what the hell!! Is this supposed to be normal (maybe i have to wait a full month to make the last pill leave my body, as i read in the faq) or this is a clear signal that something is not good? Thank you.

Can you provide some more detail please?

You should get BLOOD TESTS (especially Total/Free Testosterone, LH, FSH, SHBG, Estradiol, TSH, Prolactin, Progesterone, DHT) to see what is going on.

I mean, after 10 days from the last pill everything seemed to be back to normal; morning wood, easily get aroused, had good sex with the girl and so on. Now, after 20 days i quit, i’m experiencing (since 2-3 days) the sides again. No morning wood, difficulty to maintain an erection, low desire, etc. Is it time for blood tests etc or i should wait a little more to let my body fully eliminate this POISON? Thank you.

Get bloodwork to see what’s going on, time marches on and the sooner you can have a view of whats happening hormonally, the better. You can always get more bloodwork in the future to compare.
