Is there anyone with a T considered to be “normal”, that still has been
helped by TRT?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, and no. My T level was considered normal, but on the low side. I
wanted to try T because at the time I was having trouble keeping it
up. I also heard that T gel would help me feel less depressed and
sleep better. So I got my doc to prescribe it for me.
I immediately noticed an improvement in all these.
But shortly after being on it, I got a vasectomy and found that my
problem of keeping it up wasn’t due to lack of T or anything like
that, but rather just the lack of sensitivity due to having had to use
a condom. After I no longer had to use a condom (also the not having
to worry about an unwanted pregnancy) I was able to perform as normal.
Granted, at my age of 50, I can’t keep it up as hard as I used to, but
I can still keep it hard enough to make love to my wife for half an
hour or so.
But I kept taking the tgel because of the other factors - I was
sleeping better, feeling less depressed, having more energy, etc.
However, after a couple years on the t-gel I would begin to forget to
apply it for several days, or leave on vacation without it, and I
began to notice that I was fine without it. So recently I got off of
it, completely, and so far I am noticing very little difference.
Granted, I was on a low dose to begin with (5grams of 1% strength, per
day).
So, yes, I believe it can help people who have normal t. And all
things being equal, I would probably keep on it, just for “good
measure” (no pun intended). But since my insurance co-payment went up
to $25, I said, “Why do I need to spend $25 a month on this, when I’m
really not noticing much of a difference anymore?”
Of course there is still the possibility that a month from now I will
feel that my sex life has diminished, or I’ll begin to get depressed,
and I’ll want to go back on it. If that happens, I’ll post a follow-up
here. But so far I’ve been off it over a month and have not felt the
need for it.
Also, relative to your question, the Life Extension Foundation says it
will extend your life and make you feel youthful, longer. Could be.
You can go to their website at lifeextension.com and type in
testosterone and get lots of info.
Here, I did it for you. Just go to this link to see what they have on
it:
