Is this even possible re: Avodart???

I was prescribed avodart for BPH, not hair loss. I took .5mg x 1 a day. First 2 weeks or so I was totally fine. I noticed nothing. No side effect, no libido drop. In fact I felt good except morning wood was gone.

At about the 3 week mark I was just standing on my porch taking some air when I went into a MASSIVE panic attack. This freaked me out big time since I never had one in my life. Also I feel into this almost maic depression where I thought I was going to die or a family member would die. Next day I developed this blister like rashes on the back of my neck. It is better now but for three days I felt like crap and utter sheer terror took over my body. I never had this in my life. I don’t even know where these feelings come from. I never had them. BY the way- I don’t know if it’s the fear but no more libido or erections in a few day when I was very horny all the time.

Can It be avodart? Why did this happen and why did it take three weeks? Anyone can explain this insanity to me?

5AR inhibitors block the production of neurosteroids in the brain which are implicated in depressive disorders, seizures and anxiety.

Dutasteride is a dual 5AR inhibitor (5AR1 and 5AR2), in the brain 5AR1 is the primary enzyme. Since Dutasteride inhibits nearly 99% DHT by inhibiting 5AR1 and 5AR2, it is likely inhibiting these crucial neurosteroids which could have caused your neurological issues.

Get off the drug and your problems should hopefully resolve over time. If you plan to continue the drug, this is not the right forum.

No, I am quitting for sure.

The other thing I forget to mention was big hives around me neck and upper back. Never had a hive in my life. My question is this: If a person is allergic to this why would it take 2+ weeks?
