Is 1 dose enough to cause problems?

Greetings,

My heart goes out to anyone affected by this problem, what a trick. I am extremely thankful that I found this forum so I thank you. I was prescribed finasteride today for hair loss. I have taken my first 1 mg dose. Then while researching, for what I thought would be positive reviews, I found this site. Is one 1mg dose enough to cause an adverse effect on my system? Is there any course of action I should take other than forcing myself to vomit (it has been several hours however)? I will obviously discontinue use of this item.

I should probably note that I had terrible side affects for years after accutane, which did resolve, perhaps because I was so young. But I am not looking for a repeat.

yes there were plenty of people who had extremely adverse reactions even from the first dose, including me

You already took it so there’s no use in regretting past actions. Yes, one dose is enough to cause problems but I’ve seen people here make full or near recoveries from only one dose. It’s been two months for me since my one dose of 1mg and I am currently suffering from worsened sleep apnea, fatigue, depression, and muscle issues. Chances are you’ll recover if you do run into problems. I’ve been told that persistent adverse effects can be dose-independent, but it could also be the fact that severity and variety of persistent effects are more likely the longer you stay on it. Moreover I’ve seen that people who are hit the hardest were the ones who ‘double-dipped’ i.e. quitting then restarting fin. In any case, if you were adversely affected by Accutane in the past, you should probably stop taking finasteride.

Statistically you should be fine. Only a small portion of those who take finasteride appear to have been affected like the guys on this forum. You have absolutely done the right thing by stopping after the one pill. I am so pleased that you found us and that you found out about the harm propecia can do. By staying on it any longer than that one dose you would have been increasing the odds of causing harm if you are predisposed to the side effects. It is great that the forum is helping to protect others. Try not to worry and just live your life. If you do experience anything then you can address it then, but sometimes worry and anxiety can also impact so it is best to try and stay calm if possible and put all this to the back of your mind. You have no idea how all of us here would kill to be in the position of being able to turn back the clock and throw away that bottle of pills and live our fullest lives with our bodies and minds intact. It is very possible that you have just done one of the best things you could ever do for your body.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. You’ll most likely be okay, do not under any circumstance consume another pill.

You healed after accutane? How old were you ?
