I am a long term Propecia user (10 years). I recently went off cold turkey (6 weeks ago) and noticed an incredible jump in my anxiety. I
was prone to anxiety/panic while on propecia (now I am starting to think it was the cause) but since I have gone off its like I’m on a run away train. I am having trouble sleeping (mild panic keeps waking me up), My short term memory has definitely become impaired, I feel anxious all day and feel mild heart palpatations.Has anybody else experienced these type of side effects? I am praying they decrease. Talking to Psychopharmacologist and will be seeing my GP again to get tests.
I took propecia long term like you (10 years) until i developed side effects. I quit cold turkey and experienced a rapid onset of PFS symptoms around one month later, including anxiety.
I am confident that your anxiety will diminish but it could take a while. You may need to be patient.
I found valerian and regular cups of tea throughout the day helped me in the early stages after quitting fin.
Walking/jogging/light exercise everyday should help you sleep a bit better.
Do you drink much alcohol?
Do you smoke?
Have you taken any other medications/supplements recently, other than propecia?
The anxiety I would get on Propecia and the first month or two off would send me into out-of-body terrible states of panic. There were numerous times I was convinced that I was on the verge of dying. Two years since quitting, panic attacks are basically a thing of the past. Things got much better for me in the anxiety department. However, I do not handle stress like I used to. If things are stressing me, they usually make my brain fog worse. This is probably true of most guys on here. Yes, definitely hang in there. I had many sleepless nights due to the anxiety, and yes… finasteride did cause it.
