Improving this forum

Listen, there a lot of guys suffering that need this site. It’s a great source and whoever is behind it I respect and appreciate you! In fact I will be making a good donation to the foundation very soon. That being said, I have found that there are a few things that make it very hard to use.

1. The boards are not sorted by date. I don’t understand why our how the boards are sorted. The most recently active topics should be at the top in my opinion.
2. Private messaging. I am pretty sure no one gets mine. Being able to reach out to people when you are at your lowest is important.
3. Post delay. All my posts are still being moderated even after I have more than proven I am not a robot.
4. Positive Support Board. A board where those are feeling hopeless can go to get encouragement. I know I have improved even if very slightly and my worse case scenarios have not come true. This may be the most important thing to have.

New posts and threads with responses get automatically bumped to the top of each subforum, and are highlighted in a different color. You can also subscribe to topics and sub forums to be notified when there are responses.

There are also links in top right for:

View unread posts | View new posts | View your posts

This is to prevent abuse by spammers. After a certain amount of posts your account will be upgraded.

Prevention of spam by new accounts. Users don’t see the spam accounts and spam posts, because they get manually deleted after being reviewed.

4. Positive Support Board. A board where those are feeling hopeless can go to get encouragement. I know I have improved even if very slightly and my worse case scenarios have not come true. This may be the most important thing to have.

I had the same thoughts when I first joined years ago and wrote a similar post but you just need to be patient and spend some time familiarising yourself with the layout.

It should be a positive support forum and there are far too many uptight and argumentative people here more interested in cutting each other down. People will disagree, but there is a way to express this without it leading to insults and bitterness.

There is a reason why I have been a member for considerate amount of time yet only have a relative handful of posts (despite checking regularly).

The only thing needed for the improvement of this forum is for people to take a little more responsibility for their own behaviour and how they talk and interact with each others.
