Please have a look at your 24 hour urinary steroid profile, and indicate what your testosterone level is.
Mine is ~ 5 ug/24 hrs* on a standard scale of 45-85 ug/24 hrs.
My brother, who never took finasteride, is up in the normal range.
I am glad this came up. I very recently spoke with a doctor about having this tested for me because I was very curious to compare it with blood after the posts tim made some time ago. The doctor wanted to know if any preservative had to be used … did you have to, or did you simply take a leak with no preservative?

In this test you collect your urine over a 24 hour period, note the amount, then fill a test tube and freeze it, then overnight mail it into a laboratory where they use various techniques to measure hormones present. It is considered to be the gold standard for hormone testing. Here in the U.S. Rhein Labs is popular and relatively inexpensive but requires a doctor’s order.

I had some ideas about it, but nothing that could be proven from your standard testing. You are right though, the results are quite bizarre.
Thank you Tim for collating that data in the link above. Of ~ 10 PFSers reporting urinary testosterone output, 5 are under- excreters and 5 are hyper (over) excreters with none in the normal range.
I wonder if the under-excretors (of T) all show elevated SHBG (as I do) and whether the over-excreters have low or low normal SHBG in serum.
I will put in a request with Mew to merge these two threads. Again my brother, who never took finasteride has middle of the normal range urinary testosterone output.

how I can ask my Dr to write urine test? I asked and she refused saying only blood is available here in Canada.

Blood Test = 13.9 (range 8.0 - 31.0)
Urine Panel = 30 (range 45 -85)
