I'm on Propecia and thinking about quitting. Help needed.

Dear all,

I’ve been on propecia for a couple of years now and after reading an article about all the side effects I’m now thinking about quitting. I’ll tell you a bit about my case so you can judge more accuratly on what should I do.

I’ve started taking it a couple of years back, at the beginning everyday but after only 3 months as the result was great, the doctor said I could take it only 3 times a week. That’s what I’ve been doing since then.
Regarding all the side effects, I’ve only experienced a little bit lower libido than usual and I do get to orgasm a bit faster than before which has been of no problem to me as I can carry on. My penis is the same as previously, I have spontaneous erections and I do masturbate quite often.
This said, and after reading all the info about the propecia, I’m eager to quit but I’m now afraid that all the side effects show up.

Should I quit? Or just keep taking it? What a mess I put my self in…

Regards and thank you

Users on this website have all stopped use of the drug because the persistent side effects it caused us. I would never even consider taking this drug again and would not recommend it to anyone. Read all the horror stories… obviously you should quit. I’m friggin 22 and still have the side effects after 2 years. It’s like, really… is that even a question?? lol

It could possibly make your penis shrink by 50% overnight like happened to me and some others here. Not to mention ED, depression, penile tissue changes, inability to sleep through an entire night ever, testicular and penile pain, no libido, muscle wastage and so on. Its all been documented now. But, go ahead if you still wanna take it. Good luck!

NPC,

If it helps with your decision in regards to quit, When I was 2 years into taking the crap I had a slight loss of libido and about 75% of my old erection. Things got gradually worse of course. Your playing Russian Roulette in my opinion. I envy you. I wish I was lucky enough to find this forum 2 years into taking it.

If you do decide to quit, ween off slowly. It could help you avoid the crash.

Dear All,

Thank you for all your replies.

I didn’t explain myself well. I do want to quit and I was asking what would be the best way since I have had only minor side effects and since I’ve been taking a lower dosis than normal. Actually I only had one and half cases for the past 3 months so I guess I wouldn’t need to ween off. Anyway since last Friday I’m of this shit and that’s it… I hope for the better.

Regards

Just get off the drug imo.

In hindsight i woudl have taken arimidex for a few weeks after (small doses!) though. I think everyone who had moderate-serious sexual sides should consider this, too, when coming off it.
