Ihatepropecia1's brain fog discussion

Vitamin D has caused a lot of users on here problems. Be very cautious.

I donā€™t believe that. Thereā€™s no real studies proving vitamin d causes problems. Itā€™s only when itā€™s overdosed.

Iā€™m now 2 months off finasteride, brain fog is still horrible as well as ED. Brain fog is the worst by far. The last two weeks my doctor prescribed me aderall to see if it would help. It helps the brain fog in some aspects but not completely, itā€™s the only way Iā€™m able to function which is scary, my question is if the aderall could be making me worse or preventing me from recovering?

It is hard to say because we donā€™t have enough research about the permanent effects of adderal on the human body, and we definitely donā€™t have enough research on the exact mechanism of PFS. Taking stimulants can help with focus and attention but there are side effects like blood pressure and heart rate increases, sweating/feeling warm, possible aggression or mania, even erectile dysfunction. You probably know already if you have started to have any of these negative side effects from adderal.

Vascular contraction of the stimulant may make the erection worse.

Hi everyone, after quitting fin for two months Iā€™m still struggling with brain fog extremely bad. If I see an endocrinologist what blood tests should I have prepared? I have a whole hormonal panel done already but no estrogen. Are there any nootropics that have worked successfully for people? If my brain feels like this doesnā€™t something have to be wrong or off hormonally? Are there any good doctors people recommend in San Diego?

There are some people who report positive effects from Piracetam, but others get permanent headaches.

You should try the search function, there are years of experiences on the forum already.

A reminder that estrogen that is too low in the body (female or male) = more cognitive impairment.

Google/wikipedia chemotherapy cognitive impairmentā€“it occurs in people taking aromatase inhibitors!

So low estrogen could be causing this problem?

YES indeed! Estrogen is vital for our bodies including our brains.

Low estrogen can be caused by low testosterone.

Low testosterone can be caused by many diseases, including PFS.

So I got my testosterone and it was normal but didnā€™t get an estrogen test should I do that?

Ultra sensitive estradiol is the name of the test you need, but it is good to do it in the morning, and along with the Bioavailable Testosterone test at the same time.

Quest Diagnostics offers these two tests.

Any supplements that you guys have taken to increase cognitive ability and get rid of the constant brain, head pressure and inability to study and function please comment.

Taurine hands down seems to help me most when I need it itā€™s been a life saver for me personally itā€™s a GABA A agonist

I told my doctor about my brain issues. I feel dizziness and pressure, and sensitivity to bright light and also when I read it feels like my head is going to explode. My doctor said this is most likely not attributed to the finasteride and may be something much more serious. Do any of you have or have had similar symptoms? thanks

There are studies that show lowered neurosteroids in pfs patients that you could show him.

I would say it is best to let him test you for everything he thinks may be the issue. There are unfortunately no tests for PFS, other than to get a spinal tap and measure your neurosteroid levels. You kind of figure that it is PFS once enough time has passed that the side effects donā€™t reverse and youā€™ve ruled out everything else.

The best way to test cognition is through a batter of tests called neurocognitive or neuropsychological testing. This is the gold standard for seeing how good or bad your cognition is.

A brain scan is not going to demonstrate the function of your mind in cognitive realms. But it is good for ruling out a pituitary or other tumor or major damage to part of the brain, structurally.

Where do I go for that?
