If (I think) I've had only minor side effects

I am a little sheepish to ask my question, as I am a long-term (20-year) user who has only recently discontinued using Proscar (I’d been quartering 5 mg tablets all that time), and by the standards of most here, I’ve experienced (as far as I know) only modest side effects (big drop in ejaculation volume; 30+ lb. weight gain-- including pronounced deposits around the breasts; and a notable loss of energy and vigor). I also don’t feel as “sharp” mentally as I once did-- but I hesitate to attribute that to taking the drug. In fact, for all of the above issues, I am still trying to figure out which of them can reasonably be attributed to my taking Proscar-- and which of them I should simply accept as normal elements of the typical aging process.

My question is: If each of these problems IS attributable to my having taken Proscar for the last 20 years, how soon might I (if I am lucky enough to be one of those who does recover from the drug) expect to see each of these problems correct themselves… in other words, after quitting cold, how soon might output volume return to normal, how soon might the extra weight (especially around the chest) start to dissipate, and when might energy levels return to normal? I realize that there is a distinct possibility that none of these issues correct themselves (or that each of these are due to normal aging, and not to Proscar-- in which case, there’s no reason to expect that quitting Proscar will fix them), but since I have been fortunate enough (by comparison to many others) to only experience mild side effects, I am hoping that perhaps I will also be fortunate enough to recover from those effects, now that I’ve stopped taking the drug.

So, I would appreciate if any here with experience in these matters would offer their views/estimates, in response to my question. Thank you, in advance, for any insights.

The short answer is there’s no way to know. I ingested this poison for 10+ years and when I stopped became much worse. No change since then.

If you really have it you know…Soon after stopping life Altering changes start taking place…Massive physical changes, weight gain, fatigue, mind Altering anxiety with high level suicidal thoughts and urge to do self harm…Been suffering for 18months and only worsning…Real pfs is life changing and day to living, activities etc are greatly impaired…In short…it’s catastrophic…

Small question: how does your diet look like?

Same as around last 10 years…Around 2000 calories a day…Pre packaged meals and atkins bar etc…so I can count calories…Trust me massive changes start taking place to your body and shape…I weighed 240 one time back in the 90s.Lost over 80lbs…I didn’t look like this then…You get stronger as you get heavier I used to bulk sometimes and go up a few lbs…That is not the case with pfs…You gain no strength, but jsut a massive amount of dead weight…I think its mainly fluid or water not really even fat but definitely abnormal and hormonal…

Counting calories on pre-packaged meals and Atkins bars. I think that is a bad choice with PFS.
Take for instance an Atkins bar, it has so many ingredients: authoritynutrition.com/are-atki … s-healthy/

I would go for a paleo diet. Then you’ll see positive changes. You have to give your gut some rest and start healing. Eat vegetables, meat, fish and some fruit (don’t overdo, start with Granny Smith apples).

Your first line of action should be to get your diet in order. And then i mean a paleo diet. Didn’t you read this somewhere on the forum here?
