Ice Cold Showers

Ok…so, been off for like 6 years…mentally better off…brain fog gone and all that. Twitching and shit gone. However, some things are worse than ever. I won’t name them all, but the biggest concern for me now is SKIN is F’ING HEINOUS. Fat loss all over entire body. Under eyes terrible, wrinkles forming…la la la. We all know the drill.

Long story short…I’m wondering if anyone has tried daily cold showers instead of hot showers? The “supposed” benefits are to the skin, testosterone, immune system and some other things…but I think those 3 are of utmost importance to most of us.

So, if anyone has tried it, please let the forum know if it helped. I see someone did a topic on this…but the topic of possible positive effects on our destroyed skin never came up in the thread. That is what I’d most like to hear the details on if possible.

P.S. I’m now getting divorced from my wife of 12 years because i don’t satisfy her as i’m pretty much worthless in all areas and i don’t bother to try. I could care less about anything but this nightmare. Not that I want to, but it consumes every second. And if you are trying to get better, it REALLY consumes every second. And nobody understands. Guess some other dude will raise my kids now. Life is good!

On a side note…does anybody else find it next to impossible to not drink? I mean, it makes you forget about your heinous life for a few hours…on the downside, it F’s you up even worse. Which seems impossible.

I guess that’s my next question…people with collagen loss problems…are you drinking? I’m wondering if some people don’t drink at all ever and still have that going on?

That’s depressing. Sorry to hear that. That’s not what i wanted to hear! I just notice that after even 2 days of having 4-6 drinks, my eyes look way more sunken and dark…skin in general seems worse. The one time I thought my skin looked good, like as in, it was normal skin and had color and seemed firm was when I made myself juice fast for 12 days straight. The problem is, you can’t do that full time. I’m already gluten free for a year…that has helped a lot of stuff, and i figured it would cure the skin too…but nope.

I guess I try the ice cold shower going forward tomorrow. And tomorrow will be day 3 no drinking…so hopefully i can keep this up for a week or more and report the results.

Another thing I’d like to try would be getting normal sleep and see how we would look. But nobody can obtain that either.

Anybody sleep well and still look worse than John Wayne’s nutsack?

How much and how’s your skin? Any elevated liver enzymes yet? Mine have crept up. That’s my fear…propecia won’t totally kill me…just make me drink myself to death.

The city water is full of chlorine. This is very toxic and a hot showers open skin pore. also my shower is eletric and made from plastic. hot Plastic acts like estrogen.

alcohol is really bad for hormones. Alcohol reduces estrogen metabolism and decrease testosterone levels.

hot showers you are breathing chlorine and a lot skin absorption. This entry in the blood.

Animals don’t have a lot of things humans have. If you want to live like an animal as an attempt to beat pfs, you will need to uproot your life and live in a jungle.

Warm showers; occasional alcohol use; no insomnia/sleep issues - prematurely aged/thinned skin (predominately face) - although in my case I think most of the damage was done whilst I was still taking propecia (stupid dumb fuck 10 yearish user).

Have you considered applying for the studies which are ongoing at two major US medical institutions? Somewhere I’ve read about a research that havent found clinically significant alteration of T, E levels with moderate drinking. I’m not saying this because I support drinking, in fact I’m totally against alcohol but there are many guys who drink like crazy and have very good boners and libido. However if you are already fucked by finasteride then it may be better to drop all negative things even if they are negative only a little bit.

BTW, not too long ago I’ve read an interesting blog that contained some unproven theories. That blog mentioned that a lot of illnesses are treated by introducing extra chemicals into the body (like neurotransmitters, hormones, …) that can further promote the dysfunction and imbalances of the body. The interesting point of the whole article was that the guy assumed that often the problem is not the imbalance or concentration of the signalling chemicals is the problem but rather the (often low) concentration of receptors that receive these signalling chemicals (like in case of diabetes and depression - insuline, dopamine, serotonine, …). It maybe only loosely coupled to this thread but I remember that the very same blog mentioned a study that experimented with cold showers. According to that study cold showers increase the number of dopamine receptors too.

Cold showers and training out in winter are both very good (spartan) training for the body. A few years ago I’ve played a lot of soccer outside in winter (simply in shorts and T-shirt). It increases stamina a lot and seems to do good for the skin as well.

Thanks Robot, good info. I’m starting to think sleep is the #1 factor. I haven’t drank in 3 days, been hydrating and taking cold showers. Yet slept really heinous last night and was nervous to even look in the mirror this morning as I just kind of “felt” i would look extra terrible. Sure as shit even with doing all that other stuff, some heinous sleep resulted in me looking as bad as i ever have.

I’ve had maybe 3 times in 6 years I felt and looked somewhat normal. 2 of them were during juice fasts and the other was about 6 weeks ago and lasted 2 days. It was when i complained to my naturopath about sleep and he gave me some natural shit that had like 4 or 5 natural ingredients in it to promote sleep. I took 2 of those, slept pretty decently…then looked better than i have in a few years in the morning. Skin tighter and more color…I also, felt good and had unbelievable energy. I mean…i lifted and then went on a 2 mile jog, I never do that. It lasted 2 days…then the pills seemed to not do that for me any longer and I’m back to my ever increasing heinous looking self.

Maybe the people with collagen issues and people that look like they haven’t slept in years…actually haven’t. Even Scotsman, you say you sleep well and still look like an old dogs asshole…well, maybe u didn’t say exactly that! But anyway, maybe you sleep but aren’t getting enough deep sleep. Just a thought…maybe the worst sleepers are the people that look the worst. After all, your immune system repairs the body while in deep REM sleep.

Krieg17, you should really try Remeron. You don’t have to use a lot. Just take 5 mg 30 to 45 minutes before going to sleep. You might feel tired during the day the first days, but for instance, I’m on my fourth day today and I don’t feel tired at all. My face looks good too. I’ve also been drinking excessively just to be able to sleep, but with that stuff, I think I’ll be OK.

That looks like a pretty heavy anti-depressant. Works for sleep though? I’m assuming has to prescription. I’m hesitant to take or do anything that isn’t natural or somewhat natural.

I don’t know if it’s a strong antidepressant compared to others, but you can use it for sleep at a lower dose (5 mg can be enough, while the dose for depression would be between 15 and 45 mg).

I was against the idea of taking an antidepressant, but I’m willing to take something that will make me sleep and doesn’t have real bad side effects. I was taking clonazepam, but it only worked if I let a couple of days pass each time I used it, and now, it’s letting me down more and more. Lately, I was drinking almost every night to sleep. This is not a life if you get PFS hangovers, and it’s obviously not good for recovery and health. It would be stupid to keep drinking like that just because I don’t want to touch antidepressants.

Sleep is very important and you have to try everything to get quality sleep. I’m also against unnatural things and prescription drugs but as a sleep aid I’ve tried medications (without success). I was literally dying because I could sleep only 1,5 hours a day. Improving the quality of sleep seems to be very hard, for me water fasting helped a lot.
