I am a female currently on a product called macafem and it doesn’t specify whether it is red, yellow, etc, it just says under ingredients micropowdered maca root/lepidium meyenii walp 500mg. It says it’s for women, for hormonal imbalance, hot flashes, sex drive, and other symptoms of menopause. This is just one company that markets maca though, but it doesn’t have anything else in it just maca root. I never heard of there being other colors like other posts in here have said. This particular company’s formula of maca root (macafem) has worked wonders for me. I am only 33 but b/c of major surgery I was thrown into early menopause and had horrible symptoms for years, this is the ONLY thing that has helped me. It is actually getting me out of menopause according to recent tests by my doctor.
So I was really surprised to see men taking this b/c male and female hormones are completely different obviously. Maybe this particular company just markets it to women i don’t know. But I do know that b/c it is a little pricey I tried a cheaper brand from Whole Foods and it did NOT work at all for me and it was actually a reputable company “nature made” I believe, and again it just said maca root. i’ve never seen anything about the different colors. This might be why it is working for some men and not others maybe you are getting different types w/o knowing it! I don’t know how you would find out though, except to find out the exact brand whoever is benefiting from it is using and get that brand. I’ve also noticed from spending the last few days in this forum, collecting info for someone else, that some men are experiencing hight testostrone levels and some lower, which I’m sure you all already know, but before trying maca i would find out which hormones the person is trying to balance that is having good luck with maca. i hope that made sense.
In case anyone is wondering I am kinda responding to people saying they were getting worse from maca, but started a new thread b/c there were so many different ones on maca. Anyway once again I hope this helps.
