Recently, I bought a 6 months supply of finasteride via mail order to treat thinning hair. I am currently using it in combination with rogaine because I read online that’s a good combination. Almost immediately I felt an increase in anxiety and apathy and penile disfunction. Also, I think the rogaine is making me eat more. However, I see that my hair is finally gaining some thickness and I don’t want to lose any of it… I am 18 years old, I would not be happy at all if I was bald, and I’m think I’m strong enough to ride it out for a month to see if it wears off because I have such a large supply and I don’t want to go back to thin hair.
Then get off the drug if its a problem.

Do not post here if you continue to take Finasteride or you will be banned. This is not a hairloss forum and nobody cares about hairloss, we’ve got bigger issues to deal with.
I understand your dilemma dragon, as I was in your same situation about 3 years ago. My best advice is to get off propecia as soon as possible, especially if you are already seeing side effects after a couple of months. I took this drug on and off for about 3 years and the first year was great, no side effects and I saw a marked improvement in my hair. About a year and a half later I began having problems in the bedroom. It was scary as I have always been very sexual, but I didn’t want to give up on a good thing. So I starting looking for other causes. After a year of no other possible reasons coming to the surface I had to face reality, that it was the propecia.
It’s been six months since I last took propecia and I still haven’t regained my normal libido and erections. If I could go back I never would have started taking the stuff. The emotional pain of hairloss is nothing next to the embarrassment of not being able to perform. Learn from me and stop now. You don’t want to be in your late 20’s and impotent, trust me. If you are determined to regrow hair, give it a few years. I’m pretty sure hair restoration procedures are going to be vastly improved by then. For now continue the rogaine and save the money you would be spending on propecia for a permant solution. I joined this board to help younger people realize that this drug is harmful and not the answer. I hope you take this message to heart.
Thanks man. I decided to get off of propecia a couple of days ago because the mood swings and anxiety I got from it was just too much. Unfortunately, I still haven’t fully recovered from them, but I can feel my libido becoming much better. I agree with you propecia totally sux.
