Hypogonadal checklist

I am posting a hypogonadal symptoms checklist (a checklist to see if androgen deficiency is likely).

It was created by a world leading andrologist Dr Malcom Carruthers MD, FRCPath, MRCGP (author of the Testosterone Revolution and Androgen Deficiency in the Adult Male- I recommend reading both).

This is a checklist that gives people an idea as to how likely it is that hypogoandism or related issues exist. Although many of the symptoms are non specific, when added together they offer a great deal of specificity. The checklist was used and I believe is still used by Dr Carruthers in his initial andrology appointments.

I would like to see how members fair with it. More importantly it is something that lets members have some sort of idea symptomatically of what might going on post finasteride use from a sex steroid point of view. It is also something that members may wish to pass on to treating specialists in endocrine/andrology appointments (it should be welcomed by forward thinking specialists- of course it will not be welcomed by old school “I am the doctor” endocrinologists).

15
The age you feel scoring 0 for 30s, 1 for 40s, 2 for 50s, 3 for 60s and 4 for 70s

If you have had adult mumps, orchitis or other testicular problems, a prostate operation or inflammation, persistent urinary infection or vasectomy add another 4 to your overall score.

People do not have to divulge specifics of the questionnaire if they do not wish as I can work off the overall score.

After a number of posts I will post the key for interpretation so everyone can run this test by themselves whenever they wish.

Given how much these symptoms correlate to severity of problems in this area- this can be very helpful for people IMHO.

I don’t see any takers despite a lot of views.

Any reason why- feedback is always good,

I don’t see why either. Seems like a good list.

The age you feel scoring 0 for 30s, 1 for 40s, 2 for 50s, 3 for 60s and 4 for 70s I don’t know how to answer this, I’m 20 and i have absolutely no idea how it would feel to be 30,40 etc. Yet i do feel like i’m running out of gas, what would that make me? 30 or 40? (0-1)

No extra points added.
Total score: 29 or 30 points.

Perhaps people are interested in this, but wish to retain a little more privacy.

So here is the key, so that people can evaluate the likelihood of such problems themselves.

Hypogonadal Rating

0-9 Unlikely, 10-19 Possible, 20-29 Likely, 30-39 Very Likely, 40+ Severe

Dr Malcolm Carruthers, says about this checklist on page 49 of hisbook The Testosterone Revolution (quote verbatim).

This will help determine with a fair degree of probabiliy whether you or a friend or a partner are andropausal (a sometimes expressed term to mean hypogonadal), although only assesment by a doctor experienced in this field and a full hormonal profile will confirm or exclude the diagnosis.

Sorry, sent as a PM. I’ll post it here as well.

I’m 35, stopped using fin about a year ago, used it for 6 months.

The problems with these surveys and questions is that they are out on the internet literally applicable for every condition. It seems to be a race to use everything from someone else’s survey and add a few questions onto it so your’s has a larger scope and then blame it on whatever can be fixed by the solution someone is selling.

Literally all of these conditions can apply to thyroid adrenal problems in addition to almost every vitamin or hormone deficiency, because imbalances all make us feel like crap. These surveys will not get us to where we need to go.

Has anybody heard about “Hypo is here”'s Health?? I would he was really recovered from his ilness…Good boy and very cleaver and intelligent.
